Not the worst but definitely not the best Premier Inn I’ve stayed in. Chose this one because of location to family and free onsite parking which is unusual for central Cardiff hotels. It’s located on the side of an industrial estate, not as grim as other reviews would suggest, lots of parking which felt secure and was easily accessible. However, the building is a bit tired, there’s no lift and the ground floor rooms we chose were poorly sound insulated from guests in the rooms above. There’s no air con so heat regulation was tricky. On arrival my room was missing face towels, a bath mat, toilet paper, teaspoons, drinking glasses and a hairdryer. The first three items were provided easily by reception, getting a teaspoon turned out to be a bit of an issue and I gave up asking for the last two! The biggest issue was the awful Brewers Fayre restaurant next door. Although the evening staff were friendly, half the menu was off because they’d run out leaving only deep fried mediocre pub grub & burgers, several drinks were unavailable and the whole place had a grubby and sticky feel about it! We were told by reception and by restaurant staff that booking for breakfast wasn’t necessary yet we were turned away the following morning due to lack of food. In fact we were told that there wasn’t even enough for those who had booked meal deals! We chose to eat out and didn’t return during our 3 night stay. Would recommend Imperial Cafe just a 5 minute drive away where the food was good, plentiful and the place was spotlessly clean or Bill’s in Cardiff Bay for a treat.

This Premier Inn had plenty of parking. The hotel itself was standard Premier Inn. Cheap and Cheerful. No complaints for the price we paid. Family room £133 for 3 nights.

Parking was good, plenty of space. Corridors leading to room were dirty. Room was tidy but dusty, mould on ceiling, mould on curtains, dust layer under bed, pillow cases left under bed - appeared noone had hoovered/cleared underneath. Dust layer around bed edge. Bed hard. Bathroom tidy but condensation bad, extractor fan did not seem to work. Fan in room was very dusty and blowing out dust when on. Ok for 1 night but wouldn't go here again. Breakfast was mediocre, stood waiting 10 minutes to be seated. Not huge selection, staff struggling to keep up so always quite empty. Continental option not very big and run out quickly. Staff trying their best.

We decided to pay extra and booked a premier plus room, but were very disappointed...... On arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who checked us in. We went to our room which was very dusty with stained carpet. The bathroom had no soap wash bottles in the shower just empty and very dirty chrome holders. Only half a damp toilet roll was supplied. Two small rips were found in the bedding. One tiny milk pod each was supplied in our room and unfortunately no chocolate treats as supplied in other premier plus rooms that we have booked in the past. Next morning we asked for bottled water for our second night and we were told that we were only allowed to have bottled water on our first night...! We will not be returning.

We have stayed at this hotel several times but feel now it really needs a refurb, with that in mind I decided to pay the extra and book a premier plus room, waste of money it was awful. Before we arrived I emailed the hotel to ask them if they could book me a cab for the Friday evening, never received a reply so called them and was told no it wasn’t possible, that’s fine but answer the email surely? When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely Hungarian chap who checked us in. The room itself was old and dirty. The carpet stained, dust everywhere, the bathroom was shabby, we had one towel for the two of us for one night, light fittings hanging of the wall with wires on display, the complimentary premium WiFi was hopeless, never pay for it, one tiny milk pod each and no choice of coffee pods for the machine. For the premium price we received two bottles of water and a tiny chocolate. The only thing that keeps us going back here is the walkable access to the city centre but I think after this visit we will need to review whether we return.

We had a busy day in Cardiff to then get back to the hotel to be told it was only set up for 3, they're was no cot in the room and they were very busy and may not have a cot. It clearly says 4 on the booking, the man at the desk was pretty rude about it, but also we panic saying we couldn't stay if there wasn't a cot. The family room is right at the other end of the hotel, and up a flight if stairs so difficult with 2 small children. The room was nice, had heard other people saying they're rooms wasn't cleaned. We were also not told anything about breakfast, but it's in the restaurant across the way. The cot was brought about 10mins after we got to the room Not the best introduction to the hotel.

No problem with parking. Reception friendly. Quiet on my stay in tye area I was in ( 1sf floor at the gar end from reception), however one of the dirtiest hotels I have ever stayed in. The bath tap had mould growing out of it and the corridors and corners were dirty and stained.

Hotel was warm, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Lots of parking. Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant and my husband who has coeliac diseases was very well catered for with his food freshly cooked to minimise cross contamination. Will stay again.
