I come up every 2 weeks and have done so for a few years now so I know the staff and the know me, its like meeting up with friends when I return. Karen marshals her team so they function in competent manner. Its why I return time after time. Karen and her team make the guests welcome in all areas of hospitality. A credit to the company.

The room was great, clean and welcoming. I didn't get a chance to experience dinner, but I have to say that breakfast was excellent. The staff Karen and Caitlin were so welcoming and I believe the chefs name was Kelly, she produced a very tasty breakfast. I would definitely stay again.

It's honestly hard to believe what the room costs are for this particular branch, when it is in an appalling state. This location is always at an elevated price, this time it was actually lower compared to normal but was still £247 for two nights including breakfast (wish I hadn't bothered) and ultimate wifi for two days as well. Bear in mind this hotel doesn't have air conditioning either, which normally brings the price down. The room was clean enough, but it is very clearly showing signs of needing a refresh very soon. Throughout the rest of the hotel though it was, in all honesty, just nasty. The carpets have never been shampooed, and the corridor between reception and the restaurant is so filthy you can't even see the pattern on it any more, and it smelt too of oily residue and just general muck, not exactly inviting or giving the impression of quality. They've recently taken over the restaurant for themselves, and have made zero effort to spruce it up. The tables are all worn out, with sections of the tabletops showing excessive wear, patches of stain/varnish missing, the kind of thing you'd expect from a run down pub in the middle of a bad town, not from a Premier Inn or otherwise. Food was average, coffee machine was broken on both days, and was just generally mediocre at best. The only positive for me was the friendly staff on reception. I definitely won't be staying here again, I'll be choosing a different branch. This and the Leeds/Bradford Airport branch are in dire need of refurbishment. When the Whitbread Group is showing post-tax profits of £335m, you'd like to think they could invest some of that back into hotels like this that are needing improvement, rather than filling the pockets of the shareholders? Please, for the sake of your loyal (20+ years now) customers, do something about this.

The hotel room was as expected, comfy bed clean room etc. We like premier inn; But, the restaurant was not the best. First night there was a lack of food but what was served was good. Second night we expected a better selection, but it was worse!!! No choice of food, not even a pizza. No management had intervened to get food to the place. The staff were brilliant. They were customer facing and handled the situation so well and need praise. No worries they had plenty for breakfast. Next day at breakfast - no black pudding and ran out of mushrooms. Someone in charge needs questioning about this. and would like to iterate that the staff were brilliant under really difficult circumstances.

Great hotel and the lovely Kath in the restaurant goes above her way to make sure you have everything you need and you are enjoying your meal.

After stopping here regularly over the last three years, almost monthly, the site has seen a change in staff management, weather its a bedding in period or new style, the standards set by Vic, Cath, Karen, Jenny and Caitlin remains as high as ever, Craig and Chris do their best in the kitchen, but cover chefs, new team members mean the shine has dropped off, making me feel sorry for the team who worked hard to make this a great site in the past.

We arrived late after a long drive on a cold night, to find that the heating in our room was switched off. The temperature was 14 degrees, and the heating took several hours to heat the room up. When I complained to Premier Inn, I got a really unimpressive response, with no offer of compensation for this oversight. There was also a big clump of someone else's hair in the bath. I've used lots of Premier Inns and this was my worst experience - but what disappointed me the most was the poor response when I raised the issue. It was clearly wrong that the heating had been switched off in winter...
