The building is under renovation. We didn't see a lot of it and it didn't impact our stay. I read some reviews complaining about the water. Our water temperature was fine. The shower was hot and the water pressure was great. The bathroom was a little old looking and the caulking in the shower looked gross. We had a king room and the orientation of the bed made it impossible to watch TV in bed comfortably. The hotel was clean and the service was exceptional. Everyone was friendly and made sure you were spoken to on entry and exiting the lobby. The breakfast was pretty good. They had eggs, potatoes and sausage every day along with waffle makers and 2 different batters to choose from. They had regular and sugar-free syrup. They had instant grits and a pot of oatmeal with some fixings. They had cereals, bananas and apples. They also had bagels, scones and bread that could be toasted and yogurt. The location is very convenient to I-20. You enter from the back side of the building. They have ample parking and it's well lit at night.

We will absolutely be coming back to this hotel! The staff was fantastic—friendly, engaging, and always eager to help. Kris/YN was especially great—so warm and welcoming—and Cassandra was awesome as well. The people coordinating the breakfast were also very engaging and made mornings enjoyable. It was wonderful to see management working alongside the team, setting a great example and creating such a positive atmosphere. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable!

Friendly and professional staff. Room was extremely clean. Hotel grounds are clean. Off the beaten path so I felt very safe.

This was a bad experience in March 2025 and I will never return to the Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham East Irondale. The room I selected was changed to another room which happens sometimes. However, the hotel staff made me keys that did not open the room they assigned to me. Also of note is that the Hilton phone digital key feature is not available at this hotel due to the hotel choosing to not upgrade their door lock system. The biggest issue is that there was never hot water available during my stay. I tried to use the shower immediately after checking in and found only cold water. I called the front desk and they said they knew they had a problem and were trying to contact a plumber to fix it. It never was fixed during my stay. There was also an odd stain on the shower floor that looked permanent, one of the towels was grimy, and there was no soap/shampoo/conditioner in the shower containers nor on the sink counter. So maybe the staff missed cleaning/repairing the bathroom or maybe the basic toiletries are not provided because you won't have any hot water to use with them. Water bottles were not provided as a Diamond welcome gift at check-in or in the room.

We've stayed at many Hampton Inns and always had 5 star experiences. This was the exception. In defense of the hotel, there are signs posted that indicate that the hotel is undergoing renovation. However, there is no reason to put a guest in a room that looked like ours. The bathroom was atrocious. Mold along the sliding shower door channel (ancient aluminum framed). Moldy caulking that was just covered with a wider band, vice being cut out and replaced. This hotel is not up to Hilton standards. We should have heeded the previous reviews, but the most recent one was last October. Surely, Hampton would have made improvements by then, right? I hope these 'renovation ' signs are not just a ploy to keep negative reviews at a minimum. Andvwe hope that renovations include the complete gutting and replacement of all shower rooms. Hilton, get it together!! On the positive side, the bed was clean and comfortable.. Breakfast was sufficient. Front desk staff was very courteous and friendly.

**Review of Hampton Inn in Irondale, AL** I had a horrible stay at this hotel. Our flight arrived after midnight, and we were exhausted and ready for bed. Upon checking in and entering our room, we were hit with an overwhelming stench of mold. It was disgusting and unbearable. When we approached the A/C, we found the entire carpet soaking wet from a massive water leak. I went to request another room and had to wait a long time before getting one. By then, it was past 1 a.m. What made me furious was the front desk clerk's reaction. When I asked her to check the smelly room and wet carpet, she declined, acknowledging she was already very familiar with the problem. This was extremely disheartening. The new room was no better. It had a bug, hair in the bed (suggesting the sheets hadn't been changed), and hairs in the shower. Save yourself the unpleasant experience and stay somewhere else.

I have stayed in Hampton Inn hotels for years and this was the worst hotel I have ever stay in. It is a run down hotel with musty smell. Hallway carpeting is very dirty. Tile floors in entry were filthy. Room was not cleaned well, lamps and lighting fixtures were rusty. First room AC didn’t cool well and no hot water. 2nd room sink fixture was totally loose Bathroom floor was sticky and carpet not cleaned. Air conditioner was noisy and rusty, mirrors in room not cleaned. You most certainly can find a better option in the area.

Some updates appear to have been done in room, new carpet and paint. However, run down hotel with musty smell. Hallway carpeting is very dirty. Room was not cleaned well, items from previous guest on chair. Bathroom floor was sticky and had hair, the shower soap dispenser was missing, shampoo dispenser empty, shower tiles moldy. Air conditioner was noisy and rusty, mirrors in room not cleaned. Can likely find better in area.

How on earth does this hotel have a "good" rating overall? This hotel smells bad, had bugs, is completely run down, and has inconsiderate staff. From other reviews, it has apparently been this way for years. DO NOT STAY HERE under any circumstance.
