The staff was lovely and the view and location terrific. However, the room "renovation" was inane and diminished our experience substantially - rather than look clean, the effect was to see how little furniture they had to use and how cheap they can be. The room was advertised and depicted as having a sofa, but there was no sofa, just a modest chair and ottoman. There were no dressers or surfaces to place belongings except for the desk/work table. No place to set things except for what I can only describe as a footstool with a drawer, which was not attached to the wall and which crashed over when opened, barely missing smashing my husband's foot. The nice front desk clerk brought us two luggage racks because there were none in the room. The so-called desk had very inadequate lighting. The two table chairs were so heavy they made a terrible scraping noise whenever we moved them - we felt bad for the people below us. All that combined with the gouging price and we left with a sour taste.

酒店回复: Hello, Thank you for letting us know your thoughts about your room. I apologize for the missing sofa. The sofa in that room was damaged and had to be removed. We felt the chair and ottoman would be a good substitute until the couch could be replaced, since there is an additional table and 2 chairs in that particular room that most rooms don’t have. I can understand your frustration, though, since you were looking forward to having the sofa. The room would have seemed fuller if the sofa had been there. I am sorry that the luggage bench tipped over. Our maintenance staff was notified and it has now been secured. This was seemingly overlooked when the room was renovated and I apologize for the inconvenience. The room design was determined by Hilton and will be a common look in other hotels in the near future. Thank you, again, for sharing your feedback.

Our stay was Sunday night Nov 23 for the Bentlyville Tour of Lights event. Initially we had reserved a Queen Lakeview, but took advantage of a website offered upgrade to a King 1 Bedroom Suite (although that's not how it was labeled) with a Whirlpool (jetted tub) for an extra $40. The room labels for the upgrades to bid on did not match the labels of the rooms on the Hilton Canal Park webpage, but Michelle was very helpful in email correspondence in decoding the rooms being offered and the process of bidding on upgrades and the obligations involved. The King Suites are normally $100 more than the Queen Lakeviews for a Sunday. Oddly a Queen Partial View was also offered for bids at $80 more than our Queen Lakeview, although it would have been a downgrade. Construction was going on, which we were warned about on our stay last year. There was the expected smell of paint, commotion, and compromises on amenities because of this. You are paying a premium for the Canal Park location with this property, the event was a fifteen minute walk. Beautiful Lake Superior was about a hundred yards away across a service road, and we pretty much had the shoreline there to ourselves early Monday morning. The third floor room was clean, quiet, and adequately stocked which was expected for the price. They accommodated us with a rollaway bed for my girlfriend's daughter, though not right away. According to Business Travel News this property was built back in 1997 and last renovated 2013. It's definitely showing its age. There were several issues that likely won't be fixed with the current renovation, like dated slow elevators, which according to other reviewers has abruptly dropped with their groups inside. They have electronic checkin with the app, which is a big reason I stay with this chain, but the app didn't control the TV or the heating/cooling control, which their promo material advertises it to. I was told this was not going change with the renovation. The shower door wouldn't close all the way, so you had to be careful about water on the floor. Also when my girlfriend tried the jetted tub the hose leaked and sprayed water everywhere. The tiny laundry room had no washers (hopefully temporary with the renovation). The tiny workout room had just three of pieces of decades old equipment, a stairmaster, bike, and treadmill. It just fit me and her daughter, we had a couple people peek in and then leave while we were in there. The pool was nice. The breakfast, not in the normal dining area because of the construction, was typical generic fare to feed a lot of people cheaply despite TV promos showing a bagel shop bagel and sliced fresh fruit. I've yet to see either of these at any Hilton property. There wasn't much for snacks, you were mainly at the mercy of machines that ripped you off. I was overcharged several dollars for a bottle of Pepsi, which the evening desk person said he couldn't do anything about, but was refunded in cash the next morning by the day desk. W

We had a great long weekend in Duluth, and the Hampton Canal Park was a perfect home base. Clean, quiet, good breakfast, and easily accessible to restaurants as well as access to the driving trip up the north shore.

Our stay at this Hampton Inn was overall mediocre. While we did have a nice view of Lake Superior and the Canal Park walkway, there really wasn’t anything that set this location apart from other Hampton Inns — certainly not enough to justify the higher price. The room was clean, but a little dated, and the breakfast staff were friendly and kept the buffet well-stocked, which we appreciated. Still, for the cost, we expected a bit more in terms of comfort and amenities. I’d think twice before staying here again.

酒店回复: Hello Charles, I'm glad you enjoyed the view and our location. All of our rooms were renovated within the last 6-8 months. I apologize if something about the new decor seems dated. Thank you for your kind words about the breakfast and staff. I hope you will consider staying with us again.

Beds and room were great. The arrangement of the closet and luggage rack across the room was odd. In addition, there was no place for a second suitcase despite having 2 queen beds. Otherwise a nice room and bathroom.

酒店回复: Hi Mary,We appreciate you letting us know about your stay. I agree with you that the new Hampton room design could use another luggage bench! We have some extra foldout stands available for that very reason. Feel free to ask for one the next time you visit.

Room was clean. Heard some walking from the neighbors above us. A couple of the doors need some attention. Our hotel room closed so hard and made a large noise when we fully closed it. Our bathroom door swung open on it's own and if we didn't fully open it when leaving the room, it would "fall" open and make a noise when it hit the wall. The breakfast area was very busy on the 2nd morning we were there and not enough sitting room for everyone. We ended up eating in the lobby area on a couch.

酒店回复: Hi Chris,It looks like you enjoyed your stay for the most part. We appreciate your input on the doors. I'm sorry breakfast was crowded. Kids are out of school part of that week in October and that weekend always seems to be extra busy! Thank you for staying with us!
