The front desk employee made us feel like we were an inconvenience. No smile, thank you or pleasantries.
The room was clean with a superb view.
The breakfast was nice and the employees friendly and courteous.

The room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. We noticed that the mop boards were missing in the hallway (on the first floor). Are you in the process of replacing them? The initial appearance seemed to be that the hotel was in disarray, but hopefully replacement is the reason for the missing mopboards. First impressions are important. Perhaps a sign letting people know why would ease their minds.

We loved staying at this hotel with a room overlooking Lake Superior and with all the canal park had to offer. My husband was able to see a ship leave through the aerial vertical lift bridge on the canal. At the brewery next door, there were live cameras monitoring the port entrance, lighthouse and bridge. It was a great stay!

Guest parking is excellent. However, on street parking or parking in lots is terrible. Those not staying in one of the hotels in Canal Park are forced to walk distances worthy of a marathon. Wish this could be changed. We have stayed at the Hampton many times and love it. We will be back.

Broken Lock
The first time we left the room we realized that the door did not latch and could be pushed open without the key card. The guy at the front desk came up quickly to show us how to work a door and found the door did not latch. He said he would send his maintenance person up, that did not happen before we left. The dead bolt did work for when we were in the room. I asked for a rate adjustment from the front desk person when we were checking out. She went to talk to someone and came back with a $50.00 Visa card and said that since we booked with a third party that was all they could do. I consider no lock on the door while I'm not in the room to be fairly major. No offer to change rooms or an apology and then a blow off $50.00 Visa Card, not great.

Maybe not sprinkler the lawns every morning especially if you have dogs as the grass is always wet and they get wet.

Our only complaint was that the room was very muggy. We had the air on but it may shut off if you are gone all day. So upon returning it was always muggy and musty smelling. It would clear within a half hour or so.
Great location. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to do within walking distance.
