This hotel is dated and nothing special. So E staff were good, others less so. some wore uniforms others didn’t a few looked a bit scruff. Room was okay but quite a lot if noise from the rood. There was a fire door at the end of the corridor that was left open most of the time from staff and customers going out there to smoke. Not great for security and meant that corridor often smelt of smoke. Breakfast was a bit confusing, the first morning they took orders, the next day it was a hot buffet, although you still have to order toast and drinks .

Got to be worst hotel ever stayed in makes travelogde look 5 star . No coffee or milk in room . Service worst ever . restaurant staff don’t have a clue about customer service at no point was I approached when you look for them they are hiding in kitchen . Breakfast no coffee no toast or bread food cold and the scrammbled egg actually looked burnt as it has Ben there that long . Wouldn’t even feed it to dogs. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a review that is negative but this service is shocking . Tape coving smoke sensor in rooms

Everything you have read in reviews is true. Loads of water damage in the rooms. Active leaks. Wet carpet. Unidentifiable smells throughout. Questionable fire door policy. No air conditioning. Microwave meals served. Little details you’d see in other hotels are completely overlooked. Did I mention the smell and water damage? Let’s face it, this hotel needs a lot, I mean a lot, of love. However, one can’t write a review without mentioning the folks who work here. They get five stars. They must know this hotel needs some work, but their attitudes are great. When we checked in, the front desk team member helped carry our bags. (giant bags for Uni move in.) The gentleman at the bar was quick to get us ice. If you are looking for a posh place to stay, this is not for you. If you need a place to crash near UH, why not? To the folks at Mercure: shame on you. This area could use a nice (didn’t say fancy) hotel. You have a great staff. Spend the money and fix the mold/leaks. Clean the carpets. Fix the water damage. Put in AC.

The minute you walk in you wish you had booked elsewhere. The atmosphere is grim. Asked for a quiet room and was given 305. from 6am until 8am there was constant crashing around below, I guess it was above the kitchen. Our friends heard the same in 303. I would advise avoiding 301-307. Breakfast is mediocre.

Well located hotel just off the A1(M) so there was road noise in our room but not that bad. Room a little dated but clean and tidy. On arrival we were missing several items, towel, tea, coffee etc but delivered by reception. Room not cleaned daily. Breakfast delayed Saturday but we were allowed a late breakfast when I returned. Sunday breakfast poor, cold, under cooked sausages and not enough for everyone. We were told staff and food storages were the reasons for these problems. Hotel itself has plenty of parking and was clean and tidy.

Stayed here as part of a wedding party. The bride and groom had booked this months in advance and provided a full breakdown of room allocation to the hotel in advance. We arrived a day earlier and we’re greeted with a very defensive manager who blamed the lack of organisation on the bride and groom. Spent a good 30 minutes at reception to double check everything would be ok ahead of the next day when close to maybe 100-200 guests would arriving. He assured us several times it would be. Clearly this had not been done which resulted in mass chaos, wrong rooms being given out, people walking into our room (when changing) because they’d be given incorrect keys. Dirty bedding which my friend waited until 11pm to receive clean bedding for. My bed had springs poking out and I did ask for a mattress protector but surprise it never did arrive at all. The other members of staff were friendly and pleasant but ultimately had no idea what was going on or what to do. I felt really bad for them in the end at the pure lack of management support or guidance as it was likely a hugely stressful experience for them. Total total chaos and it was just a shame that it meant the brides immediate family were late to the evening reception as a result. Everything could have been improved with actual organisation which seems non existent.

We stayed here during a visit to Harry Potter World and were very happy with the place. Nice spacious room, great breakfast and friendly staff. Food in the bar was good although the menu was restricted due to staff shortages.

Stayed here for 2 nights, booked 2 rooms, for a family wedding nearby. Rooms: as most have already said in quite a state of disrepair - carpet heavily stained, shower head holder broken, poor attention to detail. No real noise insulation whatsoever. Other guests we spoke to had to make their own beds late in the evening after repeatedly asking for fresh sheets - unbelievable. Reception staff and organisation: In a nutshell the hotel bit off more than it could chew, staffing levels were completely inadequate (both for the murder/mystery event and the following wedding party) - they knew of this large booking months in advance but it made no difference to their lack of organisational planning. One unfortunate receptionist was left to deal with a large number of check-ins and responded by repeatedly giving out my wife’s full name to all as the cause of the problem ! I can only assume his manager (who had conveniently disappeared) advised him to state this. Complete nonsense obviously and a really poor attempt to deflect from their failings which were clear to everyone, but also a total breach of confidentiality and GDPR . Never seen anything like this type of unprofessional behaviour before and will obviously be taking this breach further. When pressed further by unhappy guests, staff admitted that some of their colleagues had failed to come to work. Total chaos caused by lack of contingency planning. Breakfast: serving staff were attentive
