If staying in one of the rooms in the oldest part of the pub (Glebe and Acremoor), the ceiling heights are at their lowest - people were much smaller when the pub was built - but the rest of the rooms have a more standard ceiling height. Myself, my wife and two children stayed here while visiting the area for a family wedding. I honestly cannot fault Cross Keys Inn or its staff at all. The room was lovely with very comfortable beds and a cracking view (especially after it had been snowing). The staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful if we had any problems. Breakfast was great and the dinner in the evening (paid separately) was also excellent. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short on the last night for personal reasons but would very happily recommend and cannot wait to book again!

Really excellent village pub in a beautiful valley setting. Such a friendly and helpful welcome from all the staff. Traditional country inn with great places to eat and drink. Great range of beers and great choices on the menu. We enjoyed fish and chips (fabulously fresh fish, thin and crunchy batter, divine steak cut chips), a superb ham salad (thick cut fresh gammon ham, hard boiled eggs, new potatoes, sweet pickles and colourful leaves) and a chicken souvlaki (served in a wrap bread with Greek salad, with skinny fries). All the meals we tried were of great quality, beautifully prepared and the prices represented excellent value. Portions were so huge we couldn’t manage dessert, but will return for this and the wonderful looking pizzas we saw on other tables. Would recommend, a rare treat!

We went on a Wednesday in early Feb 2026 and knew it would be quiet. We received a very warm welcome from Holly and had a lovely dog friendly room at the front of the pub. Dinner and drinks were great as was breakfast the following morning. We will certainly visit again and highly recommend the Cross Keys if you're looking for a cosy overnight - or longer - stay in the Borders. It would be great for car clubs too!

A very pleasant stay, comfortable room, good shower, friendly staff.. Dietary needs catered for easily, good quality tasty breakfast and delicious bar/restaurant. Music on Saturday evening was pleasant ( and couldn't be heard in our room, so not at all disturbing). Thankyou Cross Keys. All good, would stay again.
