Great B&B, a real home away from home. The owner is so nice and makes you immediately feel at home. The breakfast was the best we had in Namibia with fresh products from his own farm. We also loved the friendly dogs! Would definitely recommend staying here!!

This is the perfect stop between Windhoek and the Caprivi / further North. Besides the beautiful tranquil garden, and leisurely ice tea drinking sessions on the stoep (porch) you feel like you have been invited to sit around the dinner and breakfast table with family - surrounded by history, and a feast from the garden and farm, artfully put together by the host, Herman.

Met by a tall handsome, Greek god of a man on arrival …. Who offers stimulating company, a vast knowledge of Namibia 🇳🇦 and local history and arts. Excellent home cooking in a lush oasis of greenery and birdlife. A homely atmosphere with friendly dogs and farm style accommodation.

we were travelling from Etosha National park to Capri Vi and chose to stop at Grootfontein for one night. Herman our host was most gracious . The house is safe and you park within its locked gates. It is not a hotel but a B&B . but what a great B&B . Herman kept us entertained with his lovely stories about the history of the house we were staying in ( it has been in family for nearly 100 years or more). and if you can , do choose to eat in for dinner. Herman is a great chef. we had a wonderful dinner . and whatever you do , don't ask for schnitzel . a Better question would be ' what can you offer for tonight" and leave it to Herman's creativity to come out with a fascinating and tasty dinner. A lot of the vegetable and meat comes from his cattle ranch about 70km away. so its organic and fresh. The bedroom we had was quaint and not your traditional ensuite bedroom typical in an English B&B. But we had a very good night's rest an additional plus was the laundry service . we handed our laundry ( for a very reasonable price) in at 4pm and got it back the next morning ,dry and fully ironed. Make sure you hand in the laundry the moment you get there. Herman was really quite sweet. he even brought us the next morning to the nearest supermarket in his car , and saved us a journey to stock up up our camper van. it was a very lovely stay and thank you Herman for a great time. HH820 to be recommended.
