About 40 minutes north through the long pine tree woods, we stumbled upon Stalag Luft 3, the original prisoner of war camp where the Great Escape occurred. Carefully watch for the small sign on the right just past the museum.

It was truly a palace so don‘t expect super modern amenities. However, it was charming and everything we hoped for!
