Located in the remote and picturesque northern territory of County Donegal, these premium class holiday cottages are the perfect place to stay when visiting Ireland. We are now on our third year at Millstone Cottages and have a fourth year already booked for 2026. From our first visit with friends who had stayed here before, I was immediately impressed with the location and all the amenities provided. For such a remote location, the private on-site internet access offers a very good speed. There is a large LG TV in the living room area with a good selection of services to access, not that you'll want to be using this much as the area has so much to offer. The bedding and towels are very clean as is everything about the property which is obviously well looked after. Dolores and Danny who own the property are fantastic hosts, nothing is ever too much trouble. I rather enjoy sitting down with Dolores to have a good chat about things that are happening in the area as she has a knowledge second to none on places to visit and events on offer during your stay. We had a slight mishap with the outside decking during our first stay, purely of our own doing, and Danny called up to the house the following morning to attend to it immediately. We always book the house known as cottage 3, so our experience is limited to this property alone. There is a good sized private hot tub available along with a small wooden electric sauna, all enclosed within a purpose-built indoor area a couple of meters from the back door. Again, all very well maintained and regularly cleaned. There's plenty of room to park your vehicles for all guests staying, all within the private confines of the property and away from the ***** road. The electric and heating oil is billed on an as-used basis after your stay, so you are only charged for the utilities you have used. This keeps property rental charges reasonable as there is no average use allowance added to the bill up front and is in my opinion the fairest way to manage utility charges. I usually settle this up via PayPal a few days after our return home so the payment arrangements are secure and convenient. There are many reasons we have chosen to return here and have become regular clients. Whilst the location is remote, it offers a fantastic level of privacy whilst being central to popular venues, picturesque landscapes and scenic routes on the route known as The Wild Atlantic Way. There are very good places in the immediate area to eat out, notably The Travellers Inn which is a 5 minute drive to the local village, Burger Jacks at the small retail park in the local area, and The Silver Tassie en route to Letterkenny are all recommendations I would make. If eating out is not your thing, there's plenty of local shops offering good quality local produce and a Lidl within a 10 minute drive to make use of the self-catering facilities of the cottage. I would mention areas to visit and things to see, but you really are spoilt for c

Another fantastic motorcycle trip to my favourite place in Ireland, House was spotless, really fresh bedding and plenty of towels. The hot tub is superb, after a motorcycle trip round some of the best roads in Donegal. Will be back soon. Many thanks Dani and Dolores, Good Luck, and Stay Safe

My wife and I have just returned from a five night stay in Millstone Cottages. We stayed in cottage no. 1 which had a hot tub. The cottages are a few minutes drive from Millford village and a 20 minute drive from Letterkenny. There are two good hotels and a Lidl store close by. The cottage was very clean, beds were comfortable and the hot tub was crystal clear. The cottages also provide an outside seating area and a place to use a disposable barbecue. The television package was also great. Dolores, the host, was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for her.

As a large family group we rented 2 cottages, 1 with hot tub and sauna. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by our host Dolores who showed us all the amenities, heating and hot water. The cottages are fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a break away. They have plenty of room and all 12 of us were able to enjoy evenings together. The hot tub and sauna are amazing...in fact I haven't come across a more impressive tub! The garden is a great size and the younger members of our group loved the play area. If you are thinking of a family get together..this is the ideal spot. Do not worry too much of cost of electricity and gas, we found this very reasonable. Just down the road is a Lidl if you forget something. Thank you again Dolores for your wonderful hospitality

We stayed at no 3 millstone cottages. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our own personal use of a hot tub and sauna, truly relaxing . Wonderful amenities locally. Dolores is an amazing host . The cottage is fully catered for an excellent stay . Will definitely be booking again, but for longer the next time.
