Where do I begin to describe how fabulous my stay at The Gables was! I spent three nights in this beautiful Victorian vicarage and felt completely at home from the moment I arrived. As a solo traveller, I was exceptionally well looked after by the owners, Angus and Claire, who truly could not do enough for me. From the delicious vegetarian breakfasts to their excellent recommendations for things to do, historic sites to visit, and the nicest restaurants, cafés and coffee houses, everything was thoughtfully suggested and perfect for me. Their warmth and generosity made my stay very special, and I felt genuinely cared for and blessed to have found such a wonderful place. I would 100% return and highly recommend The Gables to anyone looking for a memorable stay.

Genteel & luxurious
The Gables is everyone's home away from home! It's the most beautifully appointed home, the very epitome of genteel luxury and Angus and Claire couldn't be better, warmer and fantastic hosts. Their hospitality, care and warmth were wonderful and their attention to detail legendary! We are already planning when we can go back!

Fantastic Georgian country house, most comfortable bed I’ve slept in when away from home. Host is knowledgeable about surrounding area and is very attentive.

We spent a lovely day here and Angus is a fantastic host - very knowledgable and helpful. The room was beautiful and we had a great breakfast the next day. Can highly recommend. Set in fantastic countryside about 10 mins drive from Berwick-Upon-Tweed town.

What a place. Luxury accommodation does not begin to do The Gables justice. Host's Angus and Claire have created a haven of peace and luxury in this wonderful old building that was once a vicarage. Angus is a wonderful, gregarious host who dispenses local knowledge and advice and also cooks a top class full English. Cannot overstate the superb standard of the accommodation.
