The recent renovations are evident throughout the hotel. Everything felt updated. My room was clean, well appointed, comfortable, and most important to me, quiet. I was very impressed by the quality and number of resources available in my room to accommodate anyone who needs to stay for a few days or weeks (e.g. stovetop, microwave, oversize refrigerator and separate freezer.) The room also had a high quality, comfortable, and supportive recliner chair and newer flat screen tv that made me feel just like I was at home. I do want to single out Alondra at the front desk for outstanding, courteous, and professional service and care. She went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and to make sure everything with my stay met my expectations. Kudos to her for her excellent guest care.

The front desk person couldn’t give me a straight answer when I asked why the credit card # on my reservation was different from mine. Mgr on phone said 3rd party (*******) does it that way. Sounded shady. I cancelled my reservation. Went to different hotel. Could not talk to a human at *******. Horrible.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for visiting Mount Vernon and anything in the DC area. The rooms are very nice and have everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The local area has great restaurants. The grounds were well kept and had great space for traveling with pets.

My second stay Candlewood Suites when in Alexandria visiting family. I came back the second time because I really enjoyed it the first time. The mini-kitchen was helpful when on the go. Clean and comfortable rooms. LaCanas at the desk was very friendly and helpful! I’ll be back to Candlewood Suites!

I had no problems with the hotel itself, but the surrounding area is definitely not safe. My first morning after checking in, I look outside to see some person strung out on some sort of substance on their knees in the grass by the road in front of the hotel screaming nonsense into the sky then curling up on the ground, over and over.

PROS: The room was nice. This exrended stay had a good supply of dishes, etc. The coffee in the lobby was fresh brewed and really good for "hotel coffee".

CONS: No housekeeping. No hotel breakfast. (Just free fruit.) The walls were paper thin so I could hear slamming doors, feet stomping above me, crying babies next door, music from across the hall, and dogs barking from a room halfway down the hall. I was surrounded the entire time by a constant barrage of noise.
When I ultimately complained, the desk clerk was sympathetic and contacted the dogs' owners and the barking stopped, but there wasn't much she could do about the rest so I will NOT return to this hotel because of the noise factor due to the 'thin walls'.

Clean, decent place.
Nice place. Computer problems at Check-in. Not sure if it was the Front Desk Agent's inability or not. She kept saying, "This computer hates me."
Also, hot water issues. We had to notify the Front Desk of the problem. It was fixed in a timely manner.
