If we could have; we’d have left Zero Stars. 9 - 9.30am on Monday 30th May My husband and I along with another couple (International visitors) went for breakfast at The Crowne Plaza, Reading. Never, Never Again. It was so disorganised and staff seemed to be lacking any clear Management direction. Many Dirty / uncleared tables whilst a line of people waited to be seated. One particular booths-table was dirty when we arrived and still not cleaned when we left 45 minutes later. When it comes to the food; it was a disaster, at 9am there was hardly anything left; We gave up waiting for the Hash-Browns and Bacon to come out after 20 minutes when staff kept saying it’ll be out in just 2 more minutes….. Failed to appear until we were leaving the restaurant….. The restaurant lacked sufficient staff and the staff on duty failed to keep replenishing food items as they ran out and they failed to keep tables cleared. Bread trays were left empty along time B4 being restocked. Zero Croissants; Zero Milk in jugs at the side of the Coffee / Tea machines; Zero fresh fruit available and the sweet jam pastries didn’t get replenished when they ran out; so we missed out. Both of the help yourself coffee machines weren’t working properly. Eggs ran out as well I scooped the last spoon of scrambled eggs and same with bake beans. After giving up on waiting for my Hash-browns and bacon; I sat down to eat a cold plate of a skeleton amount of food due to what’s left in the buffet trays. I wasn’t the only person who waited 20+ Minutes for bacon & hash-browns so went without. There was a line of customers waiting. On a positive note; the pitiful amount of breakfast my table of 4 managed to get was not worthy of the £16.95 price tag we were each charged this morning. We left underwhelmed and unimpressed. Never to return. We can’t recommend Breakfast. The staff were clearly understaffed and didn’t have any clear guidance or direction from a manager. Goodness knows what was going on in the kitchen as it was a disaster trying to get food out to buffet. Dissatisfied group of hungry travellers who mutually feel this was the worse breakfast experience had at any hotel; and between us 4 we’ve traveled the globe.
