When I arrived I did not get a good welcome. Just the opposite. No one explained how anything worked. I had to haul my luggage up by myself after figuring out how to use the elevator! No one showed me the amenities in the room. Once again a guessing game.
The room was clean and the bed was marvelous. But I never felt noticed. I was traveling alone to close my mother’s estate. Not a warm friendly place.

Greasy breakfast, no soap in shower dispenser even after leaving note for housekeeping, parking entry ticket reader was too low to reach, windows in room and glass doors to parking area desperately need cleaning.

Very nice hotel. Shopping and restaurants near by. Staff just seems a little distracted or just used to conferences not hotel patrons.

Charming hotel, not at the top of its game
The BlackHawk was a charming, older, but renovated hotel. Its location was ideal for attending a downtown Davenport event at the next door Adler theater. I found the staff at the hotel reception desk, Bix Bistro and the Coffee Shop to be very helpful and friendly. For an Autograph Hotel, however, there was some room for improvement in several areas: rooms had no recycle bin (not eco-friendly), no makeup or magnified mirror, ice machine broken had to call for room delivery, room had no pens or pads of paper available for notes. Perhaps most disappointing was inadequate staff at the in-house Bix Bistro. We had to wait almost 10 minutes for a receptionist to show up at the restaurant reception desk to seat us for our reservation, and the few staff available (though friendly, apologetic, and efficient) were simply not enough to take and deliver orders promptly (the bar area was well staffed, not the
restaurant). Because of these delays we did not have time to order a full meal before the concert, although the appetizers we did order were delicious. I felt sorry for the wait staff who were doing the best they could with insufficient help.

The pool was closed for maintenance, but there was conflicting guidance on the closure (one door had a closed sign and the other did not) and it also varied depending on who you asked.

The hotel was lovely, but the lighting in the room and bath was too dim. Older adults often have eye problems that make low lighting difficult. At least give us the option on turning it higher. Also, we were in room 316, terrible view, and the air conditioner blows on the bed. Lots of hotels do this and we can't figure out why. Otherwise, lovely hotel.

Good but could be better
There are enough good features that I plan to give this hotel another chance. Lovely historic hotel in downtown Davenport. However, the hotel is missing some usual amenities (e.g., bottled water in the room) and is short staffed (where was the staff when we had a question upon checking out?)

Borderline Dump…the place has seen better days…
The place was nothing like the photos or reviews as presented. The hotel was actually a dated and unclean mess. The main entrance is messy and unkept (broken floor tiles, worn fixtures and decor, etc.). The parlor room was disappointing. Seemed like it wasn’t used or maintained in a while (stale smelling, dusty, crap hanging from the ceiling, finger prints on the windows, leaking toilet, dirt on the floors, used Q-Tips on the floor between the bed and the wall). Was very disappointed and disgusted. Two Thumbs Down, way Down !! 👎👎
