This hotel is a favorite of me and my kids staycations. I enjoy the affordability and the kids enjoy the pool the most. They could have given us a cleaner room last stay. Our room smelled musty and there was an oily handprint on the wall above a headboard which was gross. The worker offered to move us but we had already settled in and didnt want to move everything. Breakfast is basic but good! Will continue to stay here.

I made the reservation for Sept. 15th and meant to make it for Aug. 15. I have been unable to cancel this or pay the protection fee since I made the reservation.

Parking was convenient, suite/room was spacious, front desk attendant was excellent! Each suite in the hotel had something different wrong with it that needed fixed so had to choose lesser of concerns.

I checked in about 2 am with a reservation. Clerk (no name tag, red hair, abundant tattoos and piercings) gave me 2 key cards for a 3rd floor room, but when I got there, neither of them worked. So back to the front desk, was handed 2 keys to a different room (no apology) and then neither key worked for the second room. Clerk grudgingly came and verified they didn't work, told me some of the locks don't work and new ones had been ordered, as if that solved the problem. When I observed that I still didn't have a room to sleep in, clerk took me to one at the end of the hall that did open, with extra fans running inside and a strong cleaning solution smell.
When I hesitated, clerk rudely threatened, "I could just check you out right now," making my only other choice to leave the hotel I'd already paid for and look for something else in the middle of the night. So I stayed in the room, which had not been vacuumed and had crumbling plaster behind the not-so-clean toilet, and had a headache for several days after from the smell in the room.
The clerk was apparently too busy with their craft project (something involving pliers and wire) to simply make a list of the rooms with locks that don't work. It's ridiculous to send a guest to find out, and double ridiculous to do it TWICE.
There are other mediocre hotels in this area of Topeka--you can definitely find one better managed than this one, which doesn't even know which rooms it can unlock.
