The Brownsover is a fantastic hotel. A real gem of a place. The biggest sale point is surely the gardens, if not the Guinness, which, in my considerable experience, is the best you’re going to get in England. Very professional, well staffed and the food is haute cuisine. Lovely ambience too. Well done guys.

Mediocre - poor service and far too many mistakes... which, ultimately, overshadowed the good bits of our evening at Scott's. The venue itself is absolutely jaw-dropping. The care and attention to detail that has been put into the renovation reveals the beauty of the original building, managing to balace opulence without being ostentatious. However, our experience in Scott's restaurant fell far short of our expectations, having had rave reviews from friends. A party of four friends, celebrating two birthdays. We had to ask twice to order our initial drinks, then struggled to order another, finishing our main courses before they arrived. We would have had a more, after dessert, but there was no-one around to ask (shouldn't really need to!). Perhaps by this point we should have been offered complimentary drinks - read on. The starter was absolutely beautiful - we all had the scotch egg. The garlic(?) mayonnaise is an absolute triumph. Two of the four mains were fine (the chicken and the haddock) - generous portions, very tasty. I had to ask for my potato and the red wine jus for my beef shin . Five minutes later I started eating without them, and was halfway through when the warm - not hot - accompaniments arrived. Similarly, my husband's flat iron steak arrived without his *garlic* sauce. Like me, he'd half eaten his food when *peppercorn* sauce finally arrived. He had no vegetables at all to speak of - half a shallot and a pinch of cress; barely a garnish. We asked for a pause before ordering desserts. My sorbets were absolutely bursting with flavour. But my husband's bitter chocolate mousse was almost unpleasant - greasy/oily consistency with nothing of the rich dark chocolate taste he'd anticipated. The cherry sorbet lacked the flavour of my raspberry sorbet. Our friends shared a crumble with ice-cream. Which arrived with custard... My husband had to leave the restaurant to get the bill, having already asked for it. He had to leave the restaurant again to get someone to take payment. Our taxi arrived and we left, all four of us feeling somewhat crestfallen and deflated. In my friend's words "that was a bit of a battle". We will probably be back, but perhaps downwardly manage our expectations, after this experience. We wouldn't accept a dark table in the corner again. It's clear from other friends and reviews that our evening is not what Scott's aspire to.

Had dinner last night in Scott’s restaurant. The staff were very attentive, could not do enough and the food was delicious. We were a party of 6 and were all really impressed. They kindly gave 3 free deserts to the birthdays amongst us - not necessary but a lovely touch! A lovely ambiance, great food and caring staff. Fantastic to have this on our doorstep!

Beautiful room, well decorated. Buttermilk chicken burger for dinner was delicious and the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable

这家酒店地理位置优美，方便前往拉格比以及M1/M6高速公路。酒店的园林和建筑都很漂亮，不过也有些疏于维护的迹象。我们住的是马厩区的套房，房间有些陈旧，这一点我从网上照片已经知道了，但浴室的浴缸里有头发，下水口也堵塞了。淋浴热水不足，马桶冲水也不好用。早餐最多只能算一般，很多热食都空了却没人添补，我们不得不要求服务员端出来。员工服务水平参半——有些非常愉快，有些则漫不经心，其中一位前台甚至没有正确地指引我们去房间。如果酒店能投入资金改善客房和建筑，我很乐意支付更高的费用，因为它的潜力巨大，现状实在令人惋惜！
我们非常喜欢住在 Brownsover 酒店，Arun 的服务也特别棒。花园非常漂亮，沿着河边散步也很惬意。
