I stayed at Riu Punta Cana from 10/3–10/6/25 for a bachelorette trip, and it was one of the most disappointing resort experiences I’ve ever had. The room was dirty from the moment we walked in. The toilet had visible urine stains inside and on the outer rim, and the rest of the bathroom looked barely cleaned. Housekeeping was rushed — I watched one cleaner “clean” two bedrooms in 10 minutes. The bar area in the room was filthy with coffee stains and ants, and we never used it. Our bedsheets were stained, the pillows smelled bad, and on the first night there was sand all over the bed even though we hadn’t gone to the beach yet. About 95% of the outlets in the room didn’t work — at one point only two were functioning and five of us had to share them. The Wi-Fi constantly went in and out, making it hard to stay in touch with family. The room listing said it sleeps 8, which is impossible. There were five of us and one person had to sleep on the couch. The rooms also were not connected the way the front desk said they would be. We reported multiple issues to the front desk, but the staff dragged their feet and acted like we were inconveniencing them. The buffet was good, but the restaurants were terrible. At the Italian restaurant, the ravioli was so undercooked we had to spit it out. The sports bar had dried-out chili that looked like it had been sitting for hours. On top of everything, there was an awful sewer-like smell outside half the time. The only positives were the buffet

This was the worst resort I’ve ever stayed at. My room had no AC, and even after reporting it to the front desk, nothing was done to fix it. The food was terrible, and the service was just as bad. The staff were unfriendly and completely unhelpful. Overall, it was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience—I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

The food was horrible made me and my partner sick for days, house would give us the same towels just refolded, fridge wasn’t restocked, the liquor was horrible, and not to mention we had to carry our own suitcases to the room. I never complain about hotels but this has to be the worst hotel ever, only good part is the parties but overall would never visit again

Once we arrived at the resote the staff member Max attention was with everyone around him beside taking care of us, our room was 2046 where there was mold found so they changed our room to where there was roaches and other bugs, this Resote is not clean, we did have towels in our room and when asked for towels we was told that it will be a fee of $4 for each towel, our stay here was the worse, and now we have to go to the emergency room due to the mold.

What I didn’t like about the hotel:
When I first checked in, the staff didn’t explain where anything was, which made it hard to find amenities and get oriented.
The pools were a long walk from the rooms, which was inconvenient.
There were no lights in the pool area after 6 PM, making it feel unsafe or unusable at night.
Pools closed too early, so there wasn’t much time to enjoy them in the evening.
There was no good selection of 24-hour food options, and room service either didn’t answer or never delivered.
The shower had a terrible smell, like garbage, which made it unpleasant to use.
The bed was uncomfortable—two twin beds pushed together, so sleeping in the middle was awkward.
What I did like:
Every staff member I interacted with was pleasant and nice, which made the experience a bit better despite the issues.
