We took a taxi from the train station taxi stand. The driver used a meter and it was only 150 TWD. The driver spoke no English but the Booking Reservation had the address in Chinese which was very helpful. It took less than 10 minutes and when we arrived, had our luggage out, a young man opened the door to greet us. He confirmed our reservation and took our luggage in up to the 3rd floor, no elevator. Also, we were asked to leave our shoes in a stand with the room numbers listed and used the slippers assigned for our room number, cool, no problem. He told us about breakfast and coffee downstairs. We booked a Deluxe Double with Seaview and it was a great room. Very large, two tables, one tall one by the big window overlooking the water and promenade. Also, there was a king bed and very nice soft couch. Fridge, TV (Smart), several power outlets. Hot and cold drinking water outside our room door. The curtains did a decent job in the morning with the rising sun. Large balcony with two nice sitting chairs. Very nice room. Recent laws limit what is provided in the bathroom. Shampoo and body wash from wall dispensers was provided so you need to bring your preferred amenities like a bar of soap, razors, etc. Breakfast was included, served downstairs. A nice combination of home scrambled eggs, rice, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, tofu, cubes of strong tasty stuff, pickles with bread for toast with blueberry jam, peanut butter, raisin butter and chocolate spread, all tasty. There is a coffee maker and tea at the breakfast area. The second morning we were the only 2 guests and they made omelettes with cheese and pork floss, and the morning after, French toast was the main and both days had cherry tomatoes, broccoli, dragon fruit and apple, all very nice.. The Dongdamen night market is about 10 min walk away and the 2025 Hualien Lantern Festival was set up on the far side of the night market, very nice. There is a 7-11 and a supermarket about 10-15 min walk. This is a very nice family run guesthouse with a great location at the water, nice staff, great view from the room and would gladly stay here again.
