First, I want to commend the staff for friendly service. It is clear this hotel is locally owned and operated. I felt safe and cared for as a solo female traveler.

I did not partake in the breakfast but it looked good and included a lot of items for a small hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable.

A highlight I want to include: I left a raincoat in the closet upon discharge. I called right away and they made a plan for mailing it to me, no problem at all. I would highly recommend this hotel if traveling in the area.

Very disappointing

When you walk through the front door there is a noticeable musty smell. The cement is cracked and weeds adorn the signage and landscaping. A sign was post on the computer “No Rooms Available” when I arrived at 10:30. I rang a button for assistance. The gentleman came out of a side room to check me in and was pleasant. Upon entering my room, the light switch inside the door did not turn on any lights so you had to go over to the table lamp in order to see. The room was musty and had what appeared to be mold on the carpet. I was so tired so I took pictures to show in the morning. The gentleman said it was carpet deodorizer but truly it was gross. He said he would clean it up. I went ahead and had a 5 night stay since I was only in the room a few hours each night to sleep otherwise I would have requested a refund and left for cleaner accommodations.

Before reserving our rooms, we asked about the pool to make sure that it was up and running so that we could use it. The staff said yes, so we booked it because we had some people that wanted to use the pool when we checked in. I asked what time the pool would be open on Sunday or the next morning And the staff said it’s not open on Sundays we dealt with it then we got to our room and found a large stain on the comforter in one bed, another bed had grass under the comforter between the sheet. It was late, so we did not say anything at that time And threw those dirty blankets off the bed . We went to brush our teeth and the mirror was filthy and covered in toothpaste, splatter, and other debris as if nobody washed the windows or mirrors in the hotel. We then went to take a shower and the knob would not turn on when I approached the staff that morning to complain about not being able to shower. His reply was yeah your room has a hard knob. I said no there’s nothing hard about it. It will not turn my husband who is very strong could not turn the water on And he said he will make note of that and then turned around and walked away. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. I put other things aside and just assumed he would listen to my concern and or offer a discount or money back, but that did not occur very disappointed as we do have family in Grundy Center and would like a convenient place to stay, but not at that price and that filth

Pool wasn't open, windows in room were dirty, breakfast was subpar compared to similar hotels. Was there for 2 days and saw the staff 3 times total otherwise was a ghost town in lobby. However beds were comfortable, the rest of property was really clean. Safe area, dollar general was next door along with a mexican restaurant. Caseys down the street.
