This was absolutely amazing expirience, the place is runned by wonderful hosts - Dileepa and his family. Rooms are big, clean with large balcony from which you can see fantastic sunrises. The place is tranquil and quite. Breakfast was fantastic big and tasty. Service outstanding. Definitely recommended 👌

The name "Solitary Resort" might suggest a large place with bungalows or something like that but it actually is a charming homestay with two very nice rooms on the topfloor of the family house. Earlier reviews already mentioned it, but this place deserves to write it again, this is a really excellent place to stay. Our room was spacious and well equipped, the bathroom modern and spotless. The shared balcony where the sumptious, delicious breakfast is served overlooks the jungle, full of birds and with the occasional visit of a group of monkeys. Dileepa, the exceptionally friendly host is very helpful with information on activities in the area and organised a comfortable AC car with reliable driver to Galoya National Park for us at a very reasonable rate. It's a nice 20 minutes walk downhill to the centre of Ella (look for steps/shortcuts on the lower side of the road), the rather steep way back costs around 500-600 rupees by tuktuk. Long story short: if you're looking for accomodation near Ella and they have a free room, just book. Can't go wrong, highly recommended.
