The sheets on one bed in our room had blood on it. The paint on the walls was badly chipped, and a lamp shade looked like it went thru a war. When we complained about the sheet, they had us move to another room. The sheets were clean, but the condition on the room was not satisfactory.

Montrose Valley Lodge has welcoming staff, clean room and good location. Close to downtown, restaurants, shopping and amenities.

Bed was good and the room was clean. Checkin was fast and friendly. I left my shoes and called back and they saved them for me.

We stayed at a hotel in Montrose over the 4th of July weekend—and unfortunately, it was a nightmare. When we first arrived we dropped off our bags and headed out for the evening. When we returned around 10:30 PM, we noticed dead bugs on the floor, I snapped a photo, and used Google Lens—sure enough, they were bed bugs. We went straight to the front desk, where a man (who I believe was the new owner) moved us to a room right next door. Same issue—bed bugs again. I took another photo and confirmed it with Google Lens a second time. We immediately packed up and left. The owner assured us he would refund the stay. The problem? The hotel was booked through *******, and despite the promise, only a partial refund was given. Since every other hotel in the area was booked for the holiday, we ended up sleeping in our car for the night. We’ve filed a complaint with *******, but I’m sharing this to warn others—check your rooms thoroughly and consider staying elsewhere. No one should have to deal with this, especially when traveling with family on a holiday.
