Stayed at this place while visiting Badami. Rooms are ok. Food facilities are not great. So called Breakfast buffet had some cereals, fruit, Indian bread & sabji. Opening time for breakfast buffet is 730 but they are not ready till 8 am.

Excellent all around. Badami is out of the way and is not blessed with modern 5-star hotels, but Mavi is the next best thing. It is an upmarket version of a Best Western but run by a family whose attention to detail is excellent. Room was clean, functional and had excellent grounds for one to relax in. With the right room, you can have an outstanding view of the Badami mountains at sunset. Dinner was fine and breakfast was basic and limited but acceptable. A most excellent find.

Architecturally a very nice hotel but some things let it down hence the lower review. The room did not have hot water in one of the bathrooms. We asked for a spare bed and they did not give a blanket. Only after aksing multiple times did they. They wouldn’t give extra towels. For a superior property charging high prices in a place like Badami you do expect more. The breakfast room had only 2 people serving which meant long delays and items and not being refilled quickly. As I said, a few small tweaks could make this place much better

We chose to stay at Mavi Retreat during our family road trip around the Badami area. Our main reason for selecting this property was its interconnecting room suites, which were ideal for our group of six that included senior citizens and children. The retreat is a newly built property and architecturally quite beautiful. However, the interior design lacks practicality. While aesthetics are important, functionality is essential in a hotel stay—especially for families. I hope the current setup is a result of unfinished work by the interiors team. Room Design & Amenities All room entrances are fully glass-enclosed, with drapes for privacy. This may not suit everyone’s comfort level. The master bathroom had a semi-transparent fluted glass door, which compromised privacy. Our guests only felt comfortable using it when they had the room to themselves. Though the toilet, bath, and freshening-up areas were divided, there were no doors or curtains between the bath and toilet sections. The master bathroom lacked basic fittings like hooks for clothes or towels, a towel rack, and even a toilet paper holder. Both bedrooms had no cupboards or clothing racks. Hot water was available in only one bathroom. There was no Wi-Fi or intercom/phone in the rooms. Only one extra bed was available during our stay. We managed, but I recommend informing the property in advance if you need additional beds. Cleanliness & Comfort The rooms open to a small garden area, which is pleasant, but keeping doors open for too long invites insects. We encountered cockroaches and even cockroach eggs in the room. Service & Dining The courteous staff helped offset our disappointment with the room features. They were prompt, helpful, and transparent about limitations like Wi-Fi and room connectivity. Dinner was delicious and freshly prepared. The breakfast buffet was limited but adequate, offering basic continental and Indian options. Overall Impression For the price, if room amenities are a priority, I would consider staying elsewhere. However, I would return for a meal—the food and hospitality were commendable. The property seems better suited for large groups, such as families or friends, especially given the open layout and dedicated party/reunion area. We stayed only one night and didn’t get to use the swimming pool, which looked inviting. If the room interiors are improved, Mavi Retreat could become a great stay option in Badami, which surprisingly has limited accommodations despite its incredible sights.

Had a memorable stay at Mavi retreat Badami during the Diwali holidays together with friends and family . The resort is architected and designed as a blend with the rugged terrain of Badami and the laterite stone based construction , the French window entrance concept and overall feeling of rustic nature made this resort very beautiful . The staff were very friendly and attentive . However we had some issues with room ( bathroom exhaust issue ) delays in the restaurant service , pool not clean etc which I guess are teething troubles of this new resort in a remote location . Overall we enjoyed Mavi retreat and look forward to coming here again !

It has really great looks - the lobby area and even rest of the resort has been designed well - very modern and chic. The room was sufficient for a short trip. Two problems we faced, 1. The flush in the toilets don’t seem to be very effective - last thing you want to worry when on vacation. 2. We got the impression the bed sheets were not washed, just the overall look and feel. Food at restaurant was good, the staff polite and helpful - just if they could look into these two issues would be a great place! The sites are around 2 kms away from the hotel.

We stayed at Mavi Retreat during our trip to Badami, Pattadkal and Aihole. It is a brand new resort ( ~7 months old). The rooms were excellent - with nice comfortable beds, very good western bathrooms. The restaurant food was excellent - made fresh to order, at the mild spice level as we requested. The breakfast had limited options (omlette, paratha, poori/chhole), but the preparation was great and it was available till 10.30am. We could easily have breakfast after participating in the early morning pooja/abhishekam at the Banashankari temple. The staff was prompt and courteous.
The resort had arrangements for the driver of our car to sleep, bathe etc
Overall, excellent place to stay. It could be a little pricier compared to other nearby places, but it is worth it.
I would recommend the following for the resort to make the customer experience even better - (1) provide a safe in the room to keep important documents like passports (2) provide a mini fridge and microwave in the room (3) offer south indian dishes option for breakfast/meals given the location (Badami in South India) - idli, dosa, uttapam, sambhar, upma
