We booked a mountain retreat with a lake, boating, fishing, cruises, swimming, and group social activities only to be greeted by a dried-up mud puddle with no boats, canoes, boat tours, fish, or swimming. The lodge was virtually empty, so the social activities were almost nonexistent, and the boat tours were cancelled. So it was 5 days of wandering the property with our only option of hiking in sweltering heat. The website guaranteed something that apparently hadn't been available for years, since the dam was in need of repair and they had to drain the lake. It was depressing as hell and expensive. Though we were repeatedly given the option of leaving the property to find a lake. That's not why we went to a lodge with one. It was an expensive, boring, long, and disappointing experience. They even changed the website to remove the lake and boating aspect midway through our stay.

A true gem in a placid and peaceful setting with abundant natural beauty. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. Professional and courteous staff made this a delightful experience. We only enjoyed dinner due to the length of our stay- everything was delicious and prepared as desired -

Went here for my boyfriend's 50th. We LOVED it and are still talking about our trip weeks later. The room was charming with its patio, fireplace and so many comfortable seating areas(and HUGE), the food was excellent and the staff bend over backwards to assist you in anything you should want or need. From driving you around the property to hand delivering your food, the service is nothing short of phenomenal. My boyfriend liked one of the sauces at dinner so much, the wait staff wrote out the recipe and gave him a quart to take with him!The reservoir is significantly drained(through no fault of the hotel's fault) but since we were there on cooler days, it didn't make a difference in our experience. This resort is for really unplugging, enjoying nature and taking advantage of the quiet. That is exactly what we were seeking and it hit the spot perfectly.
