I booked the Brig and Barrel for 1 night and was pleasantly surprised. The room i had, Aberlour was spacious, had a bath, very clean and comfertable. I had a couple of drinks in the bar which was well stocked and the prices were not too bad. I had fooe in the restuarant which consisted of 2 starters, Cullen Skink which was outstanding and black pudding fritters also ver good. I would recommend this place.

The check in was friendly and speedy. Our en suite hotel room Speyside was compact but very comfy. We found the bathroom clean and bright, however it could do with a few shelves for toiletries rather everything having to go on the cistern. Our room was above the busy bar we’d previously visited, which we enjoyed, being a lively friendly place full of young folk enjoying their evening. What we didn’t enjoy so much was the music and noise coming from downstairs which went on well past 11:00. As we couldn’t get to sleep I went down to the bar to ask the bar staff politely to turn the sound down. However we were still aware of the music for some time after. The BnB is a great place to stay in Buckie but do be aware that its bar is generally pretty busy until the early hours, even on a Monday. Perhaps book a room further away from the bar if you can. In summary the hotel is a friendly place to stay with a great restaurant providing excellent food both in the evening and at breakfast time. Be aware though the pub on the ground floor is a lively place until late.

I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful hotel. The room was very spacious & beautiful. The full- scottish breakfast was beautifully presented & delicious. A special mention to Dana the barmaid very friendly. I would certainly recommend staying in this hotel. A big mention to Jim Sutherland the owner a man of outstanding character.

A lunch booking was made by email and answered affirmatively and politely in good time. The hotel and restaurant have been tastefully refurbished. The dining room is quirky but intimate and comfortable and the toilets are well appointed. Steak pie and chicken curry were our choices. The pie contained tender slow-cooked silverside in a tasty gravy and was served with chips. A goodly portion of chicken curry was served with rice and chips and naan bread. One of us managed a sticky toffee pudding; a generous portion served with ice cream and yummy! Service was polite, friendly and efficient. Our first dining experience at this hotel refurbished in 2022. Lunchtime openings are restricted but our dining experience was most enjoyable and satisfying. Will certainly be back.

Stayed here with friends while doing the Speyside race, overall a very good experience. Room was pretty basic but had everything you need (kettle, hairdryer etc.) and was certainly spotlessly clean. Despite the bar/restaurant below the room seemed pretty well soundproofed and there was no sound or disturbance from below. The bar/restaurant itself was fine, seemed popular with the locals and was busy both nights we were there. Food wasn’t Michelin Star level but I would say it was above normal pub grub and was certainly fresh with good portions. Interesting and quirky decor in the bar and restaurant! Breakfast was also good and cooked to order, good range and selection of items. Parking was on street but as it’s Buckie we didn’t have problems either night we were there. There isn’t a huge level of choice in Buckie but this is certainly one of the better options in the area, and pretty good value. Recommended.

Went for a meal with my wife this evening. Starters eventually came without the cranberry sauce for the brie wedges. Wifes main course arrived and after 5 mins told her to start eating before hers went cold as my meal hadn't arrived. She had finished eating and 10 minutes later as we were looking for someone to pay for what we had my meal arrived, asked for the bill and the server asked if everything was ok !!!!!!!! Told her no and we won't be coming back. Really disappointed in the service we received and no real apology

A group of us went for dinner here, sat down ordered drinks. The drinks arrived one coffee cold. Food then started to arrive. Chips clearly from the chip shop down the road, Chicken balmoral was cold, vegan curry arrived but it was actually a chicken curry. Burger was cold! However chips and veg warm! Wouldn’t recommend eating here. Expensive for what’s on offer. However the wine was good :)

An extremely comfortable overnight stay in two recently refurbished and spotlessly clean ensuite rooms. We enjoyed a lovely dinner (of generous portions) and drinks there in the evening and a great breakfast the following morning. The staff members are so helpful and friendly, and the owner, Rossalyn, went above and beyond both before and during our stay to ensure our visit to Buckie was successful. The establishment is clearly popular with locals too , and there is a bar and beer garden to enjoy if you wish. Cannot recommend highly enough, if like us, you need to find somewhere to stay in Buckie at short notice.

Great small hotel, really friendly staff and absolutely spotless. Great evening meal and breakfast, great value for money, would definitely come back and recommend. Great location and parking, short walk to shops and harbour area.👍😊

I stayed here for almost two weeks in October, with a couple of colleagues as we were working nearby. Let me tell you now, having stayed in three other ‘hotels’ in the area (20 mile radius) and we were so glad to finally find this hidden gem. From the outside, it doesn’t really scream quality hotel, it looks more like a Tiki Bar with the wooden sign and graphics, but I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed with your room. The hotel has been very recently refurbished and it’s very tastefully decorated. I’d liken it to a premier inn standard but with a bit of character. The beds are very comfy and the linen is immaculate. The showers are great, and the provided tea/coffee/biscuit station is spot on, with real milk sachets as-well as the standard UHT pots. You also get a couple of packs of biscuits which is nice, and always screams attention to detail. I think attention to detail is the Brig and Barrels’ strong point, it’s just good, there’s good storage, quality products in the rooms like the ‘hot shot’ machine instead of a standard kettle. The restaurant is good, the menu is short, but if you eat out, or stay in hotels a lot, you’ll realise a huge menu often means the food is not going to be either fresh or good quality. Brig and Barrel isn’t looking for a Michelin star, it’s looking to feed you a decent two or three course meal and send you away full. Obviously we are everything on the menu as we were there so long and nobody was dissatisfied even once. Breakfast is served in a different room, but is to an equally high standard as the restaurant. I don’t know how long it’s been since I got a properly cooked poached egg for breakfast in a hotel, and these guys knock it out every single time. Now, the bar/pub. Depending on why you’re staying, and what your personal tastes are, this may or may not be to your liking. The bar is really a local pub, and busy most nights, in fact it’s basically a great hotel on top of the local boozer. But, although it’s very popular, it’s not too noisy if that’s not your bag, I stayed directly above the bar for most of my stay, and the only night it was noisy, I spoke to Rosalyn (the owner) and it was just the bar staff getting a bit carried away with the volume, it wasn’t an issue after that. The staff are also excellent, from the owner, who is witty yet professional to the bar staff and kitchen, everybody seems genuinely happy to help, and all seem to enjoy working there, which is massively helpful and adds to the hotels personality, it’s not uncommon during the day to hear the housekeeper screaming, as it seems to be a tradition that the other staff jump out on her or just otherwise terrorise her (all in good humour) In summary, if you need a room and they have space, book here, I guarantee you won’t find better in the area no matter the price. It got 4/5 as I can’t give 5 stars for anything less than perfection. I told my company, if they want me to work up there again, unless they get me in here,
