酒店回复: Dear Guest, I am pleased you found the team to be warm and friendly and our food to be a highlight. However I am disappointed you found issues with your room. Unfortunately a guest broke a slats on the shutters, which would normally black out the sun completely. We went back to the installers who wanted to replace the entire shutters which would have had a long lead time to be custom made. Thankfully we have managed to managed to source some replacement slats which should be arriving with us this week, and we have put the room offline at the beginning of next week to make this repair. The window in question is away from the bed, so we felt this would be of minor inconvenience for guests, but I am sorry this detracted from your stay. The carpets are new within the last year or so, and our professionally shampooed once a month, that said if there are marks on the carpets within this time they are normally immediately addressed, so I am sorry this was not the case on this occasion. We were very well received by the staff in the bar upon arrival. Our room was very “tired” and worn. There seemed to be no elevator so be aware there are stairs to the rooms. The hotel was well located in Braunton’s central area where there are bars and restaurants. It was quiet though for sleeping.

We went to The George on 10th September and all I can say regarding the poor reviews posted earlier this summer by a few people is that either the hotel has undertaken a massive refurbishment programme since, or these people stayed in a different room to ours. We were placed in The Burrows room. It was large and light. The walls and carpet were virtually spotless and the en suite room has clearly been recently refitted and was supplied with lovely clean and fluffy towels. We found the bed super comfortable. and there was a hairdryer and a kettle with an ample supply of tea, coffee and milk sachets, as well as some small biscuits. The hotel was VERY reasonably priced and included free car parking (across the road), as well as a super selection of food at breakfast, (included in the low price that we paid), in ample portions and was very well cooked and presented. The location was excellent and right in the centre of Braunton. The latest ordering time for the evening meal was 8pm, so we had to go out for dinner, and there were several options close by. The staff were talkative and super friendly and we wish them every success in the future with other appreciative guests.

In terms of refurbishment as you can imagine the rooms have been in constant use and we haven't had a chance to do anything in them since late winter/early spring. I think the trouble is a lot of people say the rooms are tired, or need an update as the decor is not what I'd describe as super modern, that said as you have noticed the bathroom floors and bedroom carpets have all been replaced within the last year or so, it's just we prefer to keep the look of the rooms in keeping with the age of the building. Really glad you enjoyed your stay and your breakfast. We have just put our timings back to 8pm, we go till 9pm in peak season for food. Sorry you couldn't enjoy dinner with us on this occasion but perhaps next time you stay. Kind Regards Christopher

Easy parking, clean comfortable room and bed, excellent breakfast and fantastic staff. Location is great for Braunton, or to access the local area by car, there is also a bus stop right outside the door, with a route to take you to Croyde.

Close to the South West Coast Path just less than a mile away. Pub with good range of beers and typical pub menu. Ate an excellent 16 oz steak. Really friendly service made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was good size and tasty. Room was comfortable and en-suite had a powerful shower. Clean room.

My new favourite place! The staff were so friendly, the food was amazing and the whole experience was a pleasure. We even took the part in the Monday quiz and came 2nd . Was so much fun! Will definitely come every time we are in Braunton. Very highly recommended

Room clean and cosy and not noisy being next to the road, bed very comfy , friendly welcome and booked for dinner and breakfast, dinner my steak cooked perfectly , burger amazing compliments to chef for all food. Would stay again. Thank you

From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Bar prices, food choices were good. Had a great meal and service was really good, nice atmosphere too. One of the very few pubs I’ve been in where the toilets were clean! Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you!

We had a smashing stay overnight and the staff were so so friendly and helpful on arrival and at breakfast. The room was spotless and bed very comfy .for the cost of the stay we would rate this one of the best places we stayed whilst visiting family
