There is so much to praise about this attraction. Hope I don't leave anything out. I had been wanting to try Headley for a long time now, and this summer's vacation finally offered the opportunity. Note: if you want to stay, make your reservation months in advance--they fill up! Our lodging was in Chestnut Cabin. Built in Pennsylvania in 1777, this board-and-wattle house maintains its exterior, creaky floors, rough cielings--but is updated with indoor plumbing, electric heating and air conditioning, a gas fireplace, and a tempur-pedic mattress. There's a full kitchen and some housewares if you are staying for days and want to dine in. The TV is limited to broadcast channels and Netflix. Breakfast will be brought in the morning at the hour you prefer. We got a lovely plate of bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, plus orange juice. We opted to use the coffee maker in the cabin for that necessity. Now on to their winery business. We entered their tasting room for a before-dinner flight of their six dry varieties plus their semi-sweet Niagara. We've sampled over 100 wineries across the US, Canada, and a couple in France--these wines are impressive! Every one had a nice, clean finish. Every one had its own distinct flavor profile. Every one was balanced. Every one had a notable aroma. Here is a vintner who really knows the craft! Usually at a winery we find one or two wines that we want to take home--here we bought a case of almost the entire flight. Note that while we were there, they were hosting a special event with over 100 guests during the first few hours--and we noticed no interruption in service. I cannot rate them highly enough! Everything was excellent.

We spent a beautiful fall weekend in Chestnut Cabin. The owners (who make and bottle all of the wine themselves) closed the winery for Saturday so they could catch up on bottling. BUT - they took a break in the afternoon and we went in the winery and did a tasting and chatted with them and it was SO NICE. Breakfast was delicious both days, as well! I can't say enough about how great it was that they took the time to cook breakfast for us and take us in the winery even though they closed for the weekend. The wine was wonderful too! They work SO HARD and I saw that first hand when we stayed there. I loved it so much, I bought a long weekend for my daughter & son-in-law to celebrate their 10th anniversary next year! Thanks for a terrific weekend!
