If the Kangaroo house was a tent I'd stay there for the food. Jill is a 5 star chef. I've never looked forward to breakfast so much. Her meals are a celebration. And the B&B lives up to her table in all respects. It quiet, private, comfortable, I felt as if we had the house to ourselves though I believe they were fully booked the whole month. Jill and Charles are charming and wonderful people. The house is beautiful and calm. There are no intrusions. We played on the island all day and came home each evening to relax in privacy or with others depending on our mood. The amenities were of the quality you would expect but no longer get at a quality retreat. Kangaroo House is the sanctuary we desperately needed and we will come back every time we need to leave life on the mainland.

Can't say enough positive things about the hosts and the surroundings of this beautiful B & B. Charles and Jill were gracious and sensitive to the needs of their guests. The breakfasts were creative and delicious! Location: Removed from main part of downtown just enough to have complete quiet. The house is structurally beautiful but also nicely decorated in the period of its time. We gave it the highest review at the end of our stay, when we kept asking each other when we could return!

We’ve stayed in many bed and breakfasts but can’t think of one more perfect than Jill and Charles’s Kangaroo House. We spent three nights basking in their hospitality and savoring their creative and sumptuous breakfasts. We spent three nights— the first in the Nuthatch Room, the remaining in the more spacious Northern Flicker Suite. All are beautifully decorated in the Craftsman style of the house, with comfortable beds and up to date baths. As others have noted, the breakfasts are sumptuous and delicious. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, the back deck, and soaking in the hot tub. And we especially enjoyed the company of our hosts. They’re fun to be with, super responsive, and yet make you feel like the house is yours.

We hadn’t stayed in a B&B in years—and never one quite as exceptional as this. Charles and Jill made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Each morning, breakfast felt like a gourmet event, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The grounds were stunning; we loved relaxing on the deck, watching hummingbirds flit through the trees in the peaceful, wooded setting. Just a short walk away, we discovered a secluded hot tub—perfect for unwinding. The rooms were comfortable, and the common areas were cozy and inviting. When we return to the area, there’s no question—we’ll definitely be staying here again.

Excellent BnB. Very clean; excellent creative breakfasts, and comfortable room. The hosts really make time to get to Know their guests, and this makes the stay more special. They are also gracious and accommodating to requests. Highly Recommended!

I stayed at the Kangaroo House with a couple of friends. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. The house has a lot of charm and our room was comfortable and quiet. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting Orcas Island.

This scenic bed-and-breakfast, built in the early 1900s, was a terrific escape. The grounds are lovely. Breakfast include fruit and vegetables from their gardens, and Jill, one of the owners, makes outstanding breakfasts every day. Kangaroo house is close to the main attractions on the island, but extremely secluded. We enjoyed our stay, and will stay again.

This B&B experience was one of the best we’ve had in years of traveling the US. The grounds are like a small scale arboretum with a great many plant species. The history of the house has been captured perfectly with furniture and architectural details. The hosts Charles and Jill are passionate hikers and besides providing a marvelous place to stay are eager to share local tips. This place is so comfortable and well run we can’t wait to return.
