This place is a little gem, a great place to use as a base to explore the borders. The rooms are cosy, and the pub is delightful, with good food and a fine selection of beers. Places like this are a dying breed, I’m glad I found it….

Staying in Kirk Yetholm for a week, we had booked a meal at the Border Hotel for the first night, hoping to return over the week. Alas, it failed to impress. The main course menu was limited. Tried the fish & chips at £18.95. Batter was crispy, but the fish inside was dry and over-cooked. Staff were pleasant, but the décor in the conservatory needed attention.

We were only here briefly but need to go back . IT’s everything you need to celebrate finishing the Pennine way. We went to meet our daughter - and could see that the staff are kind and hard working. The landlord is really passionate about his place. On a practical note everything is so clean - toilets are spotless. Beer was spot on and a great choice of non alcoholic drinks available. Please go - take a detour if necessary!!

This is a lovely hotel with a friendly welcome.
If you've been walking then you'll really appreciate the deep hot bath.
There a nice bar with food service downstairs and breakfast was great.

Hearty food & a lovely friendly team.
We stayed at the Border Hotel for a couple of nights while walking St Cuthbert’s Way. The bath was a very welcome addition to the bathroom & we certainly made use of it during our stay. The bed was a little too soft & a bit lopsided but after our hikes we slept like logs anyway. This is a no frills hotel but it had everything we needed. Hearty food & a lovely friendly team.

More supportive mattress would have been welcome. Didn’t sleep at all well. Otherwise stay was fine

After walking The Pennine Way, great place to finish! Very very nice People, good pub, good food. I was quite exhausted after ten days walking in the mud/snow. They really took care about me. Very helpfull, nice warm pub with fireplace. Great welcome. THANKS

Dinner and cooked breakfast was very good. Room basic but clean but no heating on when we got in so very cold until we put radiators on also cold eating downstairs on the evening had to put another jumper on to be comfortable
