We had a lovely stay at this winery. You cannot beat the views over the valley. Marteen was friendly, informative and a general pleasure to be around. His hospitality and generosity are amazing! While I recommend having g a car to stay here, I would not hesitate to recommend this place to stay while in the Duoro Valley!

Wow....what an experience ! This beautiful home has the best view of Douro Valley. From every room including your bed, we have the most mesmerizing view, make you not want to go anywhere. The host who built his incredible home over 10 years, is just such a wonderful and amazing person greeting you with the wine from his vineyard adding another level to the whole experience. Very unique stay....6 star....

We stayed at “Stay At The Winemaker” last night, and to sum up our experience , WOW! Maarten’s place (Maarten is the owner/operator) is perched up quite high on a mountain, and offers a stunning panoramic vista of the Douro Valley, from both the room itself, with it’s floor to ceiling windows, and especially from outside, where it’s so quiet, that pretty much all you can hear is the slight breeze blowing by, and the birds chirping! Maarten is an extremely nice man, a great conversationalist, and a fantastic host! He also provides an amazing breakfast. We enjoyed every minute of our stay there, and will definitely stay there again when we’re able to get back to this area. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay here!
