We stayed here one night, property was less than 1/2 full. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Impressive restoration of this property and the room we had was very large and comfortable. Restaurant was good for dinner and breakfast. Very abundant portions and helpful staff. Parking could be an issue if the property was fuller. We would stay here again if in the area.

WOW. Live in a castle snd feel like royalty ! A one of a kind old castle turned into a luxury hotel. Spacious rooms with antique furniture. Nice pool. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Stayed in summer (August) and could have used an a/c. Overall - great experience.

Beautiful restored castle with a lot of ambiance and spectacular surroundings. Would have been a perfect stay except that WE WOKE UP THE FIRST MORNING WITH NO RUNNING WATER! The staff explanation was: “Yes, there is a problem with water in the village, it is off. I’m sorry.” It was running again that evening.
The restaurant is good but the breakfast is cafeteria quality.

This hotel was one of our highlight stays on our 1-month trip to Europe. Such a unique and fun experience. It is so much fun just exploring the castle, including the interior and exterior, with lots of photo opportunities. I liked the important touches like decorative deer skulls, little gargoyles on the exterior, medieval pillory, etc. Take your time to explore! We were interested in using their amenities, but there were too many screaming children. They even have a little gift shop at front desk, where I got myself a red cross knight figurine. The stay included a breakfast buffet, which was great. If you don't want to eat dinner there, go down the hill to the little town. We ate at Motorest na Rožku (address: Zvolenská 576, 962 02 Vígľaš, Slovakia), and it was a great way to eat like/with the locals! This was probably the cheapest restaurant experience we had during our European trip, and we enjoyed it. With the The Grand Viglas, I wish I had known about the Dracula room, which you can book. Look it up on their website. Curious to see other reviews that involve a stay in that room.
