Great location, a stone's throw from the Quayside. I was a bit worried about booking this after reading some terrible reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The reception area was welcoming and the receptionist friendly. Easy check in although a £100 damage deposit on the room was required (which was refunded no problem a few days after check out). The 2 bedroom apartment was clean and spacious with nice decor. Well equipped kitchen with full size fridge freezer was a bonus. It was a fantastic alternative to spending a night as a family of four in 1 room as the kids had their own space (as did the adults!) and it was no more expensive so good value for money. Now for the bad bit. The ensuite bathroom was freezing, with condensation dripping from the window. The plain glass window had only a net curtain on it and with a view of the Quayside, didn't feel very private!! And there was no hot water, which we reported to the receptionist in the morning who informed us maintenance were already looking at it.

The size of the apartment itself was fine, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Not badly priced for location. However, it was absolutely freezing. The heating didn't work. There was no hot water. Mentioned it to the receptionist who said they were aware and the maintenance team were looking at it. Really not good enough in December, especially with a 5 month old baby with us who I had to wrap up in layers to sleep. Looking back at previous reviews on here now it seems like this is a recurring issue.

We visited the bar and were informed they do not do Kir Royale cocktails. However, it is in the menu placed on the bar. When we requested two we were then told " AH, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE THEM DRINKS" I have since emailed the hotel direct. NO RESPONSE....SHICK HORROR!

A few friends, my partner and I stayed for one night in the Dom Perignon Suite. The staff seemed thoroughly uninterested in our business and the lift was sketchy and small. Upon arrival at the room, there was a few issues, including general uncleanliness within the rooms, and the fact that there seemed to be issues with the WiFi. The only thing that made up for it was the fact that our sleep wasn't bad. Kitchen was dated and also had dirty appliances.

Firstly we did not realise when we booked that the apartments were not beside the actual Vermont hotel, the website is very misleading and we did not realise right away that the apartments were along the road from the Vermont Hotel, anyway we eventually realised and found our way, there is no allocated parking so we had to park in the multi story car park but this was only a couple of minutes walk away. We were greeted on arrival by a pleasant young lady who gave us out keys and told us where to go, when we walked into our apartment all looked ok, nice bathroom, 2nd Bedroom where our daughter was to sleep was good, bright and clean looking, the master bedroom was where the horror began, we walked into the bedroom which was so dark, mainly caused by the disgusting filthy window and not to mention the smell of greasy food, turns out the smell is coming from some type of vent that is right outside the window which was also very noisy but did go off around 11.30pm The window was covered in grease and birth feathers, horrific!! Also behind the curtains in the bedroom was filthy, dusty and actually a piece of litter from last guest was still there. The ensuite bathroom was nice enough although hot water was a hit or miss. The lounge/kitchen area was ok, bit run down, fridge does not close properly, oven did not work and the window was broken. Must mention the bedroom windows are old and your unable to open them so it did get very warm in the rooms, also the noise from the seagulls goes all night, squawking and screaming so if your a light sleeper as we are don't expect much sleep. Secondary glazing would be a fabulous idea for these apartments.. Heating control does not work so its either freezing or roasting. All in all a massive disappointment, the only thing going for these apartments is the location as they are very central. We made the most of it and enjoyed our time in Newcastle but as yearly visitors to the area we unfortunately will not be back to the Vermont Apartments any time soon..
