The cabins are currently under construction, unkept, dirty and not private.The property owners/managers are a no show to whom you have to communicate via text message. Wi-fi is non existent, most cabins are duplexes (not exactly the peaceful getaway that one would expect for the price point) the spa, hot tub and sauna are defunct (which are advertised directly on their site) Nothing about this location justifies the 3x per night cost compared to surrounding hotels/cabins. This screams that instead of closing to renovate they are still renting out subpar bookings at the expense of paying customers. 2/10 do not recommend.

You never mentioned any other concerns or issues that you were having. We offered full refund for the night at which you declined and stated you will stay. You did decide to leave and we gave a full refund. We also have it noted that we are under construction and making improvements as new owners as of Sept 2025. The cabin you chose through ******* is listed as being connected to another cabin (duplex) . As far as peaceful, it should have been very peaceful as this time of year is very quiet and you were the only cabin rented for that night. The staff do communicate through phone or text. . I would suggest booking directly through us if you chose to come again as ******* does have fees which increases your prices as you noted the higher price. We are continuing to make improvements and will always take feedback. We hope that you give us a try again in the future and see all we are doing!!

Due to lack of plugins there were numerous power strips and extension cords in use. The TV sits atop the refrigerator and is connected to extension cords hanging down the side. The toilet was leaking on arrival and owners informed us it was condensation which it wasn't. The leakage soaked up numerous towels during our stay. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain but maintenance did get that fixed for us. We had rain during our stay and there was more leakage in the bathroom soaking up 3 bath towels. Spiderwebs in corners, on chair legs and in coffee cups hanging on wall. Smoke detector not in bedroom but laying on shelf in kitchen. There was a large hole in a window screen that was plugged with a napkin. These cabins are located near a very busy highway with heavy traffic and noise. We had no personal contact with the owners as checkin is handled on a bulletin board and they request all communication by text only. We stayed 6 nights only because there is no refund policy. We would not recommend.

Cabins are sufficient. Safety updates need to be made. The stairs to the cabins are uneven and have no hand railings. The price seems a bit high for the condition of the cabins. Guests have to carry out their trash.

Per our notices in the cabins, we are new owners as of September 2025 and we are in the process of remodeling and updating all the cabins. It is very common at resorts and vvbos for guests to remove the trash from cabin to dumpster so we do appreciate that. We hope you return to see all the improvements that have been made when we reopen in Spring of 2026!!

DO NOT TRUST THE REVIEWS! Honestly, this place is a dump. We walked in the door and we're utterly astonished at the condition of the cabin. The floors had not been swept in ages and they were sticky spots for something had been spilled. (Syrup?) The dishes in the cabinets were filthy and hadn't been cleaned properly. There were food crumbs all over the futon, and overall just had an unpleasant smell. We stayed for about 20 minutes and then decided that we just could not let our children sleep in this place. First time ever that I've ever walked out on a reservation. Let me be clear we are not picky people. This cabin is rustic, which would have been absolutely fine, had it been clean. We had a reservation for two nights but the owner refused any type of refund even for one night. We booked through ******* and they were no help at all, and do not stand behind their properties. Going forward I will always be direct. Hopefully no else has to go through a similar experience.

We love Alice's Cottage! This was our 3rd stay at Alice's Cottage. Annual gathering of HS friends. Plenty of parking, cute kitchen with all the necessities, lovely front room and roomy basement for games, facials, and entertainment. 2 1/2 bath accommodated 6 women easily. Beds all very comfortable. Walking distance from downtown Hill City shopping, restaurants, and galleries. Centrally located in the Beautiful Black Hill of South Dakota. Fantastic place to gather with those you love!

Spent a fantastic 3 days at Pine Rest Cabins on our road trip. Owners were fantastic and always helpful. The cabin was great for my family (2 adults and 2 teens) and had everything we needed. Excellent location for Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and a multitude of lakes (Sylvan being our favourite to swim and paddle board). The coffee in the cafe was top and my daughter and I enjoyed our morning chats with Sarah who had a bundle of positive energy. Thoroughly enjoyed the bar across the road too for pizza and a pint! Probably my favourite stop off over the 3 week trip. Keep up the great work folks!!

The cabin was great. Clean, stocked with what we needed. When toaster didn’t work we had a new one by late afternoon. The area is so beautiful. The owners are so nice and want to make sure you have what you need. When asked about place to dine out they answered so fast. They do a wonderful job. Would recommend to everyone. No hassle to check in and to checkout. We will be back!!! Thanks again

Oh, what noise. The Aspen cabin is about 10 yds from the very noisy, very busy highway, cars trucks, construction equipment. There were 3 of us in the cabin, and the bottom bunk mattress was a plastic mattress with only a sheet to go on top. Could not sleep on it, all crinkly and sweaty. The fireplace was nice. We had booked for 2 nights, but because of the inability to sleep, we asked if they could try to re-book the place. They said they'd try. At 2 pm that afternoon, we saw the NO VACANCY sign up, so were pleased that we'd get out money back for 1 night. Well, they never rented it, they just put up a no vacancy sign, so it would have been impossible to get a refund, since they didn't even try to rent it. They had our money, so why bother? Avoid this place that doesn't even give you a fair shot. Misleading policy they don't abide by.

We had the cottage since there were two of us. It was quaint but a little small. I would recommend a cabin even if for just two. The place was very quiet in April when we visited and that was great. The coffee shop is awesome. The proximity of the accommodation to various tourist areas is very good.
