This modern building is an adjunct to the lovely Duff Green Mansion, which is about 2 blocks away and the place that breakfast is served. Halpino has six rooms on two floors. Mine was a small room with no closet but a nice bathroom and shower. There is no staff present and the small lobby offers only complimentary coffee--no cold drinks or snacks. Guests are responsible for locking the outside door upon leaving. It's something of a rundown neighborhood (as is most of Vicksburg, frankly) so security is dependent on the attention of your fellow guests. Everything was clean, although I had to phone to have my room cleaned, which happened late in the afternoon of my second day. It is way overpriced for what you get, but what you get is a clean, well appointed, adequate room. Would not stay here again, though.

Quiet stay in Vicksburg
Room was quiet and comfortable, though the air conditioning was cold and seemed to only be controlled by the main controller in the main hallway of the house. No check-in staff on site as instructions are given via SMS, but a near-by B&B does have a reception to help you if needed, as we did. Breakfast is a three-course affair in the Duff Green Mansion, a short walk down the street.

Liked the unique room although hot water wasn’t very hot. Wine and cheese was nice upon arrival but I think the host should have poured the wine. People poured large amounts. The sit down breakfast and tour of Duff mansion was lovely!!

Confusing place. Odd mix of newer/modern and construction-in-progress. Safe, quiet, comfortable bed. Good breakfast provided at upscale inn nearby. Hard working and friendly staff. Reservations and information contained in way too many emails. Does not live up to the hype in the advertising. Left with very mixed feelings about the stay but with good feelings about the staff.

Good place.
Generally nice. We had a smaller room. The AC was a bit weak. Breakfast at Duff Green was great as was the short tour afterwards.

Not a lot of B&B choices in Vicksburg, but the Duff Green stable of rooms are worth a look. We stayed in the Halpino building on Locust Street, with six rooms. The Tennessee Williams Room was acceptable and clean. Only six blocks from downtown eateries and museums, and ten minutes to Battleground Park. Would recommend you look into the rooms at the Duff Green Mansion itself (where all breakfasts are served).

Staff was a little cold at check in, but quickly warmed up. The room, Wm Faulkner was small but well furnished, clean, good beds and welcoming. The bath is very modern, large and especially nice. Breakfast the next morning was very enjoyable especially meeting other guests. The mansion tour afterward was slow, long and we eventually ducked out. It isn't a walk-able area but a short drive to Washington street had a selection of good restaurants. Outside of that street the city isn't impressive.

We recently stayed at the Halpino during a trip through Mississippi. It did not live up to our expectations. The room (Madam Walker) was small & lacked a closet. There were no soft drinks or water in the lobby when we arrived as stated on the website.. I later found bottled water in the hall utility closet. I did ask & got an ice chest as the small icemaker in the lobby provided a minimal amount of ice & you needed to add bottled water to make it. I will say that the bed was comfortable, & the shower was good. There was an electronic lock on the front door & guests were asked to lock it ; but it was always unlocked when we returned to the house or in the 2 mornings of our stay; It made me feel uncomfortable for the house to be unlocked as there was no staff present. Breakfast in the main house (about 1 block away) was served at 8:30 in their dining room & the food was okay.. The Duff-Green house was lovely & the wait staff was friendly. All in all, it was not a great experience for us.
