Pros Economical Rooms are clean Staff is Friendly Although near a road, relatively quiet at night. Staff speaks a little English Can catch a bus (White #135) from in front of the hotel to downtown (Centro), or Green #133 to Aquacatala Metro station (ask for a transfer ticket so you don't need to pay again at Metro) AC works Small room safe available Decent size flat screen TV Soap dispenser in bathroom. Cons Some of the rooms are very small at +/- 9' x 10' (but keep in mind it is economical) Hot water tends to run out in the morning Breakfast is a bit boring and inconsistent (have to repeatetly ask for butter, jam, milk for coffee). Some of the breakfast staff are a bit miffed when not ordering daily special. Coffee is not that good, not fresh, but served out of a vacuum container. Attendand inventoried snacks and minifridge on check-in (1:30 in the morning !!!!!!!!!!!) Rooms in the front tend to get a bit of noise from the check in area at night (Rooms Cafe, Eucaliptus, Manzanilla, Fresa, Pina) Bathroom trashcan foot pedal no longer works, have to prop lid up No wash cloth Pillows too thick, feels like sleeping on a football. Hotel pictures do not reflect actual breakfast, fruit was sparse. Main Aromax WiFi was not functional. Was able to get access to backup system. Many rooms do not have full windows. Suggestion for Hotel Management 1. Mount a small mirror in the rooms for ladies to use to put on make-up while shower is being used by spouse. 2. Remove rug in front of bed. Rugs are nasty, people step on rugs with shoes after walking and stepping on all sorts of things. 3. Add a door in the Hallway between reception and rooms to muffle reception area noise.

I have been to the Aromax several times over the last ten years and on every visit I have been happy with the staff and the location of the hotel. Everyone on staff is helpful, pleasant and attentive. The new reservation manager, Jesus Zuleta, has done a stellar job of communicating. He always responded to my emails quickly and completely. He is a very welcoming person and perfect for the job The location is unique and a real bonus for anyone interested in birds. Though the back of the hotel and dining area face a busy street with moving cars all day; the front faces a lush, quiet neighborhood full of birds all day. In just 30 minutes wandering the front street with its little park; I can see a dozen pretty species of birds. But the hotel looks exactly as it did ten years ago on my first trip. It is clean, but needs updating. The price is very reasonable, however, for my tastes and needs; I would prefer a more renovated accomodation, most especially a nicer bathroom. I do not think much could be done to make the bedroom and bathroom larger. They are both small rooms. But I believe a lot can be done to make them more comfortable and visually appealing. I hope the owners are considering doing this.
