Our family of four enjoyed staying at Bella Vita Boutique Hotel so much in August 2023 that we returned in August 2025, again for 16 nights. I posted a very positive review of our previous visit on Trip Advisor in August 2023. I am very pleased to report that Suzy and Suresh, the Italian/Sri Lankan owners, are continuing to provide an excellent standard of service, accommodation and surroundings for their guests. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing and peaceful stay in beautiful and well-maintained surroundings, Bella Vita is an ideal choice. We look forward to staying with you again on our next visit to Sri Lanka, probably in August 2027.

We spent two lovely nights in this place. Everything is 5 star experience - the accommodation itself is lovely and stylish, the place have big a big pool with very warm water. Everything is very tidy and cozy. The host is such a lovely person - he used to live in Italy so he knows everything about european level of service. And the last - THE FOOD is amazing. It's a truly italian cuisine. We ordered different things and everything was very very good. The surroundings is also good - they have a decent beach and all infrastructure near by.

Fabulous Italian restaurant located in a beautiful tranquil spot in Aluthgama. Lovely hosts Susie & Sanju provide a wonderful warm welcome and the most delicious, freshly prepared food. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, it’s a real hidden gem!

I stayed at Bella Vita with my wife and two children for 16 nights. We were very impressed with the accommodation and service; and we have no hesitation in recommending this boutique hotel to others. This purpose-built hotel opened in 2022. It is set in peaceful and quiet surroundings, so the main sound is the birds in the trees. It has five guest rooms, two of which can be converted from one double-bed to two. It has an outdoor swimming pool and a small indoor gym. The owners are an Italian/Sri Lankan couple, Susanna and Suresh, who are genuine, friendly and ever helpful. They take pride in offering a high level of service to their guests. I was particularly struck by the care, attention and assistance they displayed towards our children. Breakfast is fresh fruit and fruit juice, followed by your choice of Western or Sri Lankan food. The Italian coffee machine provides a lovely cappuccino from freshly ground beans. As we were visiting family, we only ate once in the evening at Bella Vita. It offers mainly Western food (especially Italian), which we really enjoyed. We noticed that the restaurant attracts regular customers from the ex-pat communities. Bella Vita is about 1 km from the main coastal road, where you will find beaches, water sports, shops and restaurants. Just a few minutes from the hotel is a small river, where you can hire a boat taxi for a river safari or a trip to the beaches downstream. I have visited Sri Lanka about 15 times in the last 20 years. We intend to stay at Bella Vita again on our next visit, as this hotel exceeded our expectations.

We had 3 weeks touring Sri Lanka, and this was the best boutique hotel we stayed in. A welcome sanctuary of quality, run by an Italian / Sri Lankan family, who went out of their way to ensure we were happy. The food in the restaurant, we pre-ordered, as it was off season, was thoroughly delicious, high quality Mediterranean influenced - and cooked properly and to perfection - ‘al dente’ pasta. The chef, Luke, had 15 years experience in Europe, and it shows. Beautiful fruits for breakfast, and proper espresso! Prices were also really reasonable, and not more expensive than anything we had experienced in Sri Lanka. We had two rooms. Our girls had a twin split level room with a double bed and a sofa bed. Our room had a massive super king bed. Very comfortable. Mini bar. The bathroom was very modern, with his and hers sinks, toilet, bidet, and shower. The best but was the additional ‘open air’ shower so you could shower outside (in total privacy) in the sun. Lovely. The architecture (designed by an Italian) was modern. The pool clean and spacious. This place will never get busy - as there were only 5 rooms. It was a bit like having your own private villa, with a chef! It is a tricky place to find - down a quiet residential street - but we had a driver who knew the area well. It’s also easy enough to find a tuk tuk to explore the local area. We are dreaming about returning.

Amazing hospitality & great place to relax and enjoy the stay. It has Luxurious atmosphere. Susi and suresh were very friendly and professional. 100% clean. Specially the best part was the food, Delicious and well presented. Moreover they serve the homegrown fruit juices, which is marvelous. Totally worth the money! Love bella vita❤️

Excellent service and lovely freshly cooked food. Susie and Sanju are wonderful, friendly hosts. Fast becoming one of our favourite places to eat. We've been a few times now and it consistently out performs every othe restaurant in the area.
