Fantastic little hotel near Inverness Airport and Nairn. Very comfortable in every way-bed, bathroom, friendliness, and cleanliness. Definitely plan to return. We have traveled extensively in Scotland and the Star Inn is an absolute gem.

We booked this as we had an early flight from Inverness airport ( about a 10 minute drive) Mary Jane warmly welcomed us, & showed us to our well appointed, super clean room. We had dinner in the pub opposite served by friendly waiter Leighton, which was tasty & plentiful. A lovely stay.

The Star Inn has many things to recommend it, and we stayed in the newly renovated building across the street form the main inn. The big drawback fro us was the tub/shower with an 18" step up and over with no hand rail anywhere to get in and no rubber mat or skid strips. We 2 seniors had to use the shower in my sister's son's room! Very comfortable beds, lots of outlets and plug-ins for electronics, No towel bars whatsoever anywhere in the bathroom or bedroom. Have the owners ever stayed in one of their own rooms? The restaurant at the Inn was closed, so we had to drive into Nairn for dinner and had difficulty finding a place that could seat us, so make dinner reservations if you stay there.Maybe they could offer some menus to browse or let guests know about the difficulty in getting seated in Nairn. No other dinner options in Ardersier that we could see. Did find an Indian Restaurant to be good. The Star served us a nice breakfast, which started at 8:00, which was a little late for us. Star Inn has a popular bar and an outdoor gazebo, which appears to be taken over with locals. They have done some things right, but some minor improvements are needed. The staff were cordial and I really can't fault them.

Every now and then you find a real gem. The newly renovated room is really large with a large wall mounted TV, very comfortable king size bed and large and beautiful bathroom. The owner asked for my dinner order and I commented that I'd really like a parmi (not on the menu). The owner arranged for the chef to make me a parmi and it was one of the best I've ever had! Breakfast was also great with everything you could want and lots more. This is a family business and everyone, including staff, were really nice and helpful. If this place was near my home it would be my 'regular'. Very highly recommend.

I feel bad writing this as the staff were so friendly and welcoming. (Sorry!) The only thing that let our stay down was the food. The soup was very thin (tasty but too thin) the macaroni was lovely but the handmade chips were cold and half cooked. My fiance had a mixed grill with chips and only ate 1 slice of bacon as it was undercooked the fat was like the cow was still moooooing! The steak was well cooked and lovely however the large bit of fat that was on the steak put him off, eggs done well, sausage lovely, again chips half cooked. but all in all for what we ate it wasn’t worth the money, (£54) We ended up going to the shop for snacks to fill us up. Breakfast is included but we skipped it after our experience. The room its self was absolutely stunning, very fresh with modern decor. The bed is extremely comfy. We had a great sleep both nights. Just remember when you to the toilet to pull the roller blind down as window faces Main Street. I didn’t realise until my knickers were round my ankles lol You have your usual amenities in the room. Tea and coffee with some tasty biscuits. There is a small fridge which wasn’t too cold, ironing board and iron. Hooks and coat hangers, Free toiletries and a fan incase the room does get hot. The staff have indicated that the heating is underfloor which may get too hot. Free Wi-if!! However, we had low mobile signals in our ground floor room which was a bit of a hassle trying to contact anyone. Netflix is included in the package however when pressing the button it wouldn’t load. Spoke to the lady in the bar and was given another remote and told “change batteries” Which again didn’t work so we were stuck watching Freeveiw.
