A stay at Lough Bawn house is always good for the soul. It’s a beautifully tranquil place to visit and to relax. Beautiful period house with matching decor and ambiance. Warm and comfortable to stay and read a book while looking out over the lake. Highly recommended.

What a lovely getaway, immersed in silence and surrounded by natural beauty. Every detail in this 205 year old home is absolutely charming. The updated bathroom and comfortable bed enhanced the experience.

I stayed for 3 nights with my sister to catch up, relax and unwind without all the usual distractions. Lough Bawn House certainly provides an ideal place to do all of this and more. There’s something reassuring about taking in a view that probably hasn’t changed in hundreds of years. LBH’s idyllic setting above a lake surrounded by countryside has a timeless charm and is a great base from which to explore the local area by car, such as Fore Abbey and Loughcrew Cairns to name just two. The house itself is unique, tasteful and comfortable with stunning views. The owner is warm and charming while remaining unobtrusive. Breakfast is a delight and dinner available by request (delicious locally sourced produce expertly prepared). We would both highly recommend & will be returning.

Secluded, bucolic location overlooking a picturesque lake. A Irish breakfast every morning in addition to yogurt and an assortment of fruits grown on property. You will be transported back in time.

My wife and I spent three magical days at the beautiful, serene oasis of Lough Bawn House. The grounds include a lake, exquisite gardens and rolling hills. It was a perfect setting in which to exhale and enjoy the quiet, peaceful beauty of the landscape as well as explore stunning nearby attractions like Loughcrew. Our host, Verity, was a creative and inspired cook, who kindly accommodated our dietary needs with gourmet plant-based meals that will linger in our memories for years to come. A proud peacock, a pair of gentle dogs and flock of chickens are also part of the hosting staff! Lough Bawn House is well worth a visit if you want to get off the beaten track to a stately home with a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful food!

What a jewel in the Midlands / Lake District of Ireland. While everyone often spends their time in Ireland on the east coast (Dublin) or the west coast, I encourage travellers to take time to stay at Lough House ( in the interior). This old country estate is magnificent. The quality of the food is top tier spectacular. The charm of the countryside relaxes the most restless soul. The rooms are spacious. Breakfasts in the morning are included and the dinners in the evening are extra, but worth every penny - professional quality indeed. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. If you are looking to relax and catch your breath in charming style, Lough Bawn is definitely for you. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. You can provide some

An excellent accommodation choice in a quiet part of Westmeath. Very comfortable room. Friendly and efficient service. A great breakfast. The highlight is the setting: looking over Lough Bane, with amazing views, especially at sunset. It is the perfect place to spend a couple of relaxing days, hidden away from the world. Recommended.

A little piece of heaven in the Westmeath countryside. From the moment you arrive you are transported back to a kinder and gentler time. We arrived on a rainy Fall day but the scenery couldn’t have been more beautiful. The view of the lake over the rolling hills and countless white sheep is spectacular. We were met at the front door by the owner, Verity and one or her two dogs Nutmeg. Verity informed us that we would have the house to ourselves that night and led us to the Copper Beech room our lovely accommodation for the night. Verity invited us to get settled and then join her down stairs. A wonderfully gracious host, she served us hot tea and fresh baked lemon cake in front of a warm fire in the sitting room. While there, she made several dinner suggestions and gave us a key to the house so that we could come and go as we please. We took a walk through the grounds, walking amongst the sheep and marveling at the beautiful vistas. Our room was spotlessly clean and bright with a wonderful king bed and soaking tub. The next morning we had a traditional breakfast in the dining room at a beautifully decorated table looking across the fields at the lake. Breakfast was perfect and we spent some time getting to know our host. What a gem! The whole experience was magical and we will surely be back!
