We absolutely loved our stay. Everything was perfect. Lush gardens, cute cottages, relaxing spa and a peaceful place. We will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Our Saturday stay was amazing, but on the Sunday there was literally no service. We were fortunate that there was someone staying who could assist us, because otherwise we would have had no dinner, no fire, no help. There wasn't even someone to check us out on Monday morning.

I recently visited Five Mountains Spa in Wellington (on the website, a 4-star SA tourism destination) with high hopes for a rejuvenating half-day spa treatment. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was far from welcoming. Our appointment was for 9:00, and when we arrived, the receptionist insisted they called me and changed it to 10:00 – for one, I don’t have an answering service on my phone, and the confirmation via email only stated I needed to pay a deposit. So, we sat there, waiting for an hour. Retrospectively I should have got in my car and gone… nevertheless… The reception needed more warmth and professionalism, setting a disappointing tone for the rest of my visit. There was no service, and I had to walk around asking for a glass of water (which I had to buy). Furthermore, there were no proper towels nor a proper bathroom – no hairdryers, only an old dirty toilet with a small mirror and toilet paper instead of tissues. One of the most concerning aspects was the need for proper protocols for spa treatments. There seemed to be no structured approach or attention to detail during the sessions, leaving me uncertain and uncomfortable. No question was asked about health conditions, preferences, or medical history. That is concerning. The absence of basic amenities like water only added to the frustration, especially when I experienced a hay fever attack and was offered toilet paper due to the unusual scents in the room. I am also unsure if the therapists were properly qualified, as the one who worked on my daughter clearly needed to learn about pressure points or proper massages and more than once hurt her. We had breakfast in an extremely smelly (smell like smoke) dining room with noises from the kitchen – waiting 45 minutes for our food. The condition of the bathrooms (no bathroom – only a toilet with a small basin) was another let-down. Not only were they unacceptable in terms of cleanliness, but inadequate space for changing made the experience even more uncomfortable. It's disheartening to pay for a spa treatment and encounter such subpar facilities. The spa bath (outside) was dirty – the floors were not clean, and the blinds were broken. We decided to skip the steam room as we did not trust the hygiene nor took a shower afterwards as the shower curtain (plastic) smelled sour. Furthermore, the quality of the services fell far below expectations. My daughter's pedicure left much to be desired, resembling the work of a child with crayons rather than a professional treatment. Additionally, the absence of pampering elements and the continuous repetition of a single song by Chris De Burgh added to the lack of tranquillity and relaxation. Overall, the experience was far from what I anticipated. The cold, noisy environment, the lack of pampering and the exorbitant prices made it clear that [five mountains falls short of providing the premium spa experience it advertises. I

Darlings, it was supposed to be a lush retreat at the 5 Mountains Lodge & Spa, a toast to Mother Earth herself. Alas, what unfolded was a tragicomedy of errors, sweetie. Imagine us, parched and wilting in the sun's cruel gaze, awaiting the reluctant gates to part. Our sanctuary? A cabin of deceptive charm, betraying us with a garden of wasps, each sting an accusation against relaxation. The pool, a mirage of reprieve, was but an aquatic graveyard to nature's debris. And as night fell, our dreams were pillaged by the unyielding assault of infernal pillows and vampiric mosquitoes. No spritz of repellent in sight, darling! The boudoir, a furnace set to Dante's favorite temperature, with beds rivaling the unforgiving nature of stone. And the pièce de résistance? A hostess, not the warm vintage we expected, but rather a chilling blanc de no hospitality. As the morn did break, our presence at breakfast was dismissed with a breezy, "No time for you, darlings." By some stroke of mercy, breakfast did eventually grace our presence. And it was... acceptable, a lukewarm consolation for a night of vampiric warfare. Our expulsion from this 'Garden of Eden' was hastened, a forced exodus before the eggs had even said hello. Absolutely outrageous, but not fabulous.

Unfortunately, this was not the anniversary night away we were hoping for. Although the room was really nice and was clean, the hot tub had water in it which had a dirty film on top. We were not able to have a couples massage at the spa as only 1 therapist was available on the Sunday morning we wanted to book for. And the communication around our attempts to book for a massage was poor. The wifi wasn't working and there was a reluctance to attempt to get that fixed, even when we asked, so we did without that too. For the price we paid, we expected better service.

My wife and I were somewhat disappointed with the venue in that the pictures and descriptions on the Lodge's website and reality did not quite match up. Overall, the establishment is quite mediocre, which makes the daily rate rather excessive. The meals that we had there were freshly prepared and not unpleasant to eat, but can hardly be described as "cuisine". We were without electricity and water on two occasions during our two night stay and the steam room did not work. Although the electricity and water situation could probably not have been helped by the owner, some token of apology (such as a free breakfast or just a bottle of wine) would have gone a long way.

This is a perfect quick stop over accommodation en route to your destination. It is clean and comfortable. In my opinion it is a good, basic 3 star facility but definitely not a four star establishment. The establishment has good potential but feels a neglected.

we booked two cottages for a weekend in June 2023, the hot tubs were fired up before we even arrived and Rowan the duty manager was so welcoming and friendly from the start of our stay. The cottages were cozy and warm inspite of the winter cold. The mattress on the master bed with amazingly comfortable and the beverage tray with teas and coffee was most welcome. We ordered 2 braai packs and a weber braai for our first evening, there was more than enough for a party of 5 - we brought our own beers and wine but saw that wine was available for sale too. Had a delightful full english breakfast on the Sunday morning before we left, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Awesome break away from the busy city. The serene setting assisted in giving it a peaceful vibe. The pool was great but the Jacuzzi was awesome as well as the Spa facilities. The host Rowan was great, and very hospitable. I would definitely return..
