The location is very close to the points and is at walking distance. This is a big plus point. However, the food is below average at the hotel. We had gone for Breakfast-Lunxh-Dinner package and the taste was ordinary. Also, being buffet, we had to wait for items to be refilled which was very frustrating.

BEWARE: Scam/Fraud at Hotel West End, Matheran — Highly Disappointing & Overrated I am writing this review with the sole intention of protecting fellow travelers from falling victim to the fraudulent practices at Hotel West End, Matheran. Please read this carefully before making your booking — my experience was extremely disappointing, and I want others to be aware of what they’re getting into. Why We Chose West End We made a last-minute change to our plans, cancelling our booking at Scarlett Resort (where we’ve had great experiences earlier) to try something new. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a terrible decision that ruined the purpose of our trip. The Reality — Nothing Like What’s Promised Despite booking and pre-confirming a Cottage for our stay on 28th June 2025, we were shocked to be allotted a tiny, cramped, dirty 10x10 tent upon arrival — not the promised cottage. The tent was unhygienic, stinking, and absolutely unfit for a comfortable stay. This is clear fraud and misrepresentation. Please note: The rooms are NOT what you see in the photos — don’t fall for the misleading listings. Poor Facilities & Service • Power Failure: The property had frequent power cuts throughout our stay, with no proper backup. You can imagine how frustrating it was. • No Network / Wi-Fi: There was zero mobile network connectivity, and to make matters worse, hotels working Wi-Fi was so weak that even normal messages couldn’t downloaded either. If you’re hoping to stay connected for work or emergencies — forget it. • Rooms: We booked a Cottage a month in advance, but were fraudulently given a tiny 10x10 tent — cramped, dirty, stinking, and completely unhygienic. The bathrooms were filthy, no hot water and beds were uncomfortable. Photos online are misleading — what you see is NOT what you get. • Service: Absolutely poor. The reception staff didn’t even offer us a seat or water during check-in. Calls to housekeeping or reception went unanswered. Repeated requests for basic services were ignored. • Food: Food was bland, tasteless, and of poor quality. Also the buffet ran out of dishes early. • Overpriced: For a stay costing over ₹7,000, the experience was pathetic and not at all value for money. The Only Positive The property has some greenery, a small garden, a dirty pool and basic recreational options like table tennis, carrom, and a spa. But these minor plus points don’t come close to making up for the terrible stay. Final Verdict — AVOID THIS PLACE West End is highly overrated. I’ve stayed at other Matheran resorts (Scarlett, Byke Heritage, Alexander, Horseland), and this was by far the worst. Despite raising concerns during our stay, no meaningful support or resolution was offered. This property thrives on show-off and misleading travelers — please don’t waste your hard-earned money here. 👉 Recommendation: Skip West End completely. I strongly suggest staying at Scarlett Resort instead — an amazing place that offers great service, food, and a memorable s

We visited the place on a weekday in June 2025. It was raining heavily and had a very cloudy, yet beautiful, weather. The location is very nice, silent, calm, and peaceful. It is a 15-minute walk from the market area. It's lush green and you can spend a good time inside the property as well. Very close to the major viewing points as well. Echo Point, Charlotte Lake was extraordinary with the clouds and rain. The Deluxe Garden View room we stayed in was small, but it had a nice balcony to enjoy the weather and the monkeys. Overall clean, Food was okay. Buffet is widespread, but not all things are available from the menu in Alacarte. We ordered hot milk at 7:30 am but for whatever reason - be it rain or unavailability we were only attended to post 8.30 am. The staff can be more hospitable, presentable, smiling, but the manager was friendly and happy. He accommodated us well. I recommend this place to families, friends and couples. Large groups can easily be accommodated. They have tent rooms that are comfortable and well-made made too.

The property is very well maintained, spacious and there's so much to do. They have a swimming pool, children's play area, table tennis, carrom..there's something for everyone. Breakfast was also very good and the staff are very polite and courteous.

Hotel Western Matheran certainly makes a positive first impression with its very good property and equally good rooms. The aesthetics and upkeep of the hotel itself seem to be a strong point, promising a comfortable stay. However, the experience takes a noticeable downturn when it comes to dining. The food quality is reportedly not so good, which is a significant drawback for any getaway. This is further compounded by the fact that even a basic necessity like a drinking water bottle is charged at a steep Rs. 50. For guests staying longer, the repeated food menu within a two-day period and the lack of variety will likely lead to disappointment. Even the sweet dishes seem to miss the mark, described as not tasty. While the base food quality might be acceptable, the lack of flavor is a definite concern. Adding to these issues is the reported experience with the manager, who is described as "not a good person." While subjective, this suggests potential issues with service or guest relations. Considering these points, the reviewer strongly suggests that if possible, it might be best to avoid booking this resort. In summary: While Hotel Western Matheran boasts a pleasant property and comfortable rooms, the subpar food quality, high price for basic amenities like water, repetitive menu, tasteless desserts, and a seemingly unhelpful manager paint a concerning picture for a potentially enjoyable stay.

The stay was comfortable. The staff is accommodative and welcoming. Location is a little far from railway station. 1.3km to be exact. So if you have more luggage then take hand rikshaw. Resort is beautiful. Greenery everywhere. Some rooms are too small. So go for delux rooms and not cottages. Food is ok. This being resort, 9% GST id applied on restaurant bill. So be mindful.
